It's a shame it does not work as it should.
The product was a good price, looks good, has a variable water dispenser, it lights up when heating the water. Good size water tank. That is where the good bits end. After a few months, the temperature of the water delivered starts to drop. Also the amount of water delivered drops so you end up with a quarter of a cup of tepid water.Descaling does not help.Such a shame. Will be contacting Amazon now for a refund or to get it fixed but looking at other reviews (a bit late now) I'm not going to hold my breath. UPDATE - I phoned Breville and Amazon this morning, Amazon are refunding my purchase so I have ordered the Brita Filter one. Thanks to both Breville and Amazon. I hope the new one works.

Could not live without! Still going strong after 5 years!
I purchased this in Dec 2015 so its tried and tested. I love this hot water dispenser and would not be without it now.Even when making 4 cups of tea its still quicker to pop your cup under, wait for the water to pour 4 times then boil the normal kettle once.I love the added bonus of not having to pick up a heavy kettle full of boiling water. This hot water dispenser, dispenses 250ml of boiling hot water in around 30-35 seconds. It does not have a variable dispense rate but the more expensive ones do.After having for nearly 2 and a half years i would not hesitate to get another one and cannot recommend a better product.Update May 2021 - This kettle is now nearly 5 and a half years old and I have definitely have got my monies worth. It makes on average 35 - 40 cups of tea a day (for us, we love tea!) and is still going very strong. One thing I will say is late last year it started leaking a little where the water display shows (right along the edge where it meets the black plastic) but a little bit of superglue did the trick and never had an issue since.I will definitely invest in another one once this one goes. Ive never had to descale as there is no water sitting on an element. It reallyxis a perfect kettle. For anyone looking for one of these I would not hesitate to buy this one.

Buyer the larger version instead!
I bought this for my elderly grandad as I have the larger version & have been very happy with it - but I have to say this smaller version isn’t so good compared to mine- you can not adjust the amount of water that is dispensed so only an average sized mug will do & if you use a smaller cup - you cannot stop the water at any point - so it will overflow the cup - where as with mine you can adjust for the size of mug/cup & you can actually stop the flow of water with the touch of a button. Also when you fill it back up - the lid doesn’t clip back nicely into place - you have to actually push the lid down whilst holding the button you used to open it!!Overall a poor design compared to the larger more expensive Breville one cup dispenser.Wouldn’t buy again.

Read this before you buy!
I knew as soon as I used this item for the first time that it was going back. Like other people have said the water portion it delivers is way too big for my mugs which are different makes and all average size. You can't press a button to stop the flow either so this means when you press the button to fill you have to stand and wait while it heats up and then when it spits the water out (making a right racket while doing so) you have to lift the mug out of the way when you get enough water and let the rest of the water fall into the spill tray below. This makes it the total opposite of a time saver, when a normal kettle boils I do not have to stand there and wait, I can do other things, this thing you have to guard it and then risk splashing hot water and coffee everywhere while you try and make your drink the right size, then you have to empty the overflow tray all the time as well. Totally pointless! On top of this the water container itself is way too small, I got maybe 3-4 mugs out of it, and it's REALLY awkward to fill up from the tap because the opening is too small and the flap gets in the way.Just a totally awkward design and not what I was hoping for at all. I'm going back to to a regular kettle now.

Rusted screw and not enough water.
It’s ok to make tea for a few people but it takes a while to start boiling. The automatic switch is the main hook for this machine. However, the two main problems are that firstly, the maximum level of water dispensed is not enough for cooking pasta, rice, etc as it’s about 2 cups of water dispensed at a time, maximum. Secondly, the screw inside the lid has rusted and bits have fallen onto the water. I could live with the first shortcoming but not with the second. It’s a great idea but it needs to be improved. Must do better!!
