They Work
My tanks do just as well with these as with the disposable cartridges with charcoal. They wash easily and can be used over and over; and so are economical and appreciated.

These are great for how modular they are.
There's not a ton to say about these. But, they are just what I needed and They work well. The best part of these is how modular they are. You can use as many as you need and if you need different sized pieces it is very easy to cut even with a pair of scissors. I used these in my pond and they were perfect for my spillway filter. You will of course need more filtration than these for any pond, but these can help. They are as easy to clean as any of these are, which to say is not that easy. I'd say the durability of these is great. I didn't know how to properly clean filter pads at first and so I was using the power washer on these for a while. They actually held up fine to several power washes. The proper way, I know now is to ring them out in a container of your own pond water. Oops.

Save $100 and buy these!
Looking at this nondescript package of aquarium filters, you might not think these have anything to do with a professional audio application. However, I can confirm without a shadow of a doubt these are the same material used in a popular $100 microphone pop filter. This foam does an excellent job of cleaning up plosives when placed in between you and a condenser microphone and doesn't add any coloration to the sound. I've tested with an Audio-Technica AT2020, SE X1A, and Neat King Bee II.If you're looking to cut this filter to the same dimensions of the circular piece of foam in the $100 pop filter, a medium-sized can of soup or vegetables will do the trick just fine. You probably have some Progresso or a larger can of Del Monte green beans in your cupboard right now. I'd recommend cutting your circular piece of foam before you run it under water to get it to its full thickness. Cutting it is more precise when it's thinner. If you want an actual frame of reference for the size (or perhaps you want the gooseneck to put the foam in), you can buy the knockoff version of the $100 filter here on Amazon for $20.I only spent $5 on this stuff, but it makes my audio sound like a million bucks. This was a fantastic purchase! I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again if I needed more, but the six included filters should have me set for a long while.

Very nice. Fits Aqua-tech 40-60
I wanted a filter option that was carbon free for my aquatech 30-60. These fit two on each side with no trimming with a small gap between to help keep the water flow higher. These were great, inexpensive, and are high quality. They do appear cheap and smushed when you receive them due to the vacuum seal. Run them under hot water and they fluff back up and return to their correct size and shape. They are nice and course so they won't clog, but will retain plenty of healthy bacteria, and remain easy to clean. They are a true .75"-1" thick.

Waist of money, it’s a job to prepare it.
The media could not be loaded. It is a job to use this product, if you have an emergency filter change or weekend to take care of your tank You need to take care of this product first, the pores are so large which defeats the purpose of having extra colonies, and has 2 different ways preparation before use, buy a regular unscented sponge save the pain of guessing the results and performance.

DIY Pop Filter Material
Don't jump to any conclusions, make sure to follow the instructions and soak in water first to get it to the advertised size. I've actually been using this as a DIY pop filter (with a cheap goose-neck stand) to deal with plosives in a sound recording context, and it has worked phenomenally, on par in effectiveness with much more expensive alternatives in the market! And keep in mind I have 5 more at my disposal if needed!
