The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels (Dangerous Damsels)

Cute - and a bit bonkers
Favorite Quote: No men sat at the table, having been left at home to mind the children, guard the treasure, or quite frankly just stay out of the way of women’s business.Story Synopsis: How do I even begin this synopsis? Jen Deluca had the best quote on the cover of The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels, “Delightfully bonkers.”TWSLS follows the story of Cecilia Bassingthwaite, a prim and proper pirate who lives with her Aunt Darlington. Both ladies are part of The Wisteria Society, a ladies-only society of pirates who fly their houses around Great Britain, thieving and robbing people and buildings. After Cecilia receives her first assassination attempt by a scoundrel pirate and thwarts him, she keeps running into him and falling in love little by little. Why does this book beguile? TWSLS is delightfully bonkers, a fun read, and will most certainly lift your spirits. It was romantic and silly with fun characters. This book felt like Bridgerton met Captain Jack Sparrow and had a magical book-child. It’s entertaining and wacky. You’ll love reading it without having to keep up with an ornate plot or too many characters.

Hysterical with a Unique Mixture of Pirates and Witches
The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels (Dangerous Damsels Book 1) by India Holton is a lot of fun. With flying houses used as vehicles, pirates, witches, and plot twists galore, this novel is unique by combining it all. The one-liners had me laughing out loud. Literally. The main characters are complicated and likeable. Cecilia Bassingthwaite, a proper lady, thief, and excellent in weaponry is seeking a promotion in the Wisteria Society and is plotting to kill her father who killed her mother. Then there’s Ned, the pirate. Or is it Captain Lighbourne? Or possibly Signor De Luca? He goes by many names, but he’s suave and cunning. He’s contracted to kill Cecilia—or protect her—it depends on who is asked.Ned is hired by many people to counteract everybody’s plots. He quips to Cecilia, “Obviously, Morvath doesn’t trust me at all.” Cecilia’s quick reply is “Does anyone?”One of Ned’s employers confronts him when he brings Cecilia along to her house. “You told me to bring you her (Cecilia’s) finger,” Ned reminds the woman. She replies to him, “Yes, but not attached to the rest of her person.” The scene where Ned searches for Cecilia’s aunt’s key is priceless. It’s a fun story with well-written and not overly done romance. I would (and have) recommended the book, and I will get the second one in the series.

Bonkers but in the best way!
This book was bonkers but in a good way.The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels is an enchanting and magical historical romance full of adventure, mystery, and romantic moments. There are pirates, flying houses, assassination attempts and lots of tea. This book had the best one-liners disguised in politeness and passive aggressiveness. The absurdity had me smiling.I adored the romance between Ned & Cecilia; they were the cutest. They start off on the wrong foot as Ned is hired to assassinate her by a mutual acquaintance. They end up working together and forming a tentative bond. The banter in this book was delightful and added to their chemistry as a couple. All their interactions and tiny touches made me giddy. I truly felt like I was watching them fall in love. This book is truly one of a kind, but I think if you enjoyed Just Like Magic by Sarah Hogle, you will love this one as well.

The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels
I read this wonderful book from beginning to end without stopping. Ms. Holton grabs the reader from the first page with her marvelous work and doesn't let go, even after the last page is read. Her characters are real with such eccentric quirks that the reader feels like she knows them personally. This was a fabulous work of fiction!

Mad cap fun and romance
This series of books is entertaining. I have read 2 of them. They are just fun. They have a healthy dose of romance and are great to read. A door to a crazy world of "wouldn't that be so wild?" for any time.. good or blah.

A Light Enjoyable Read!
I picked up this book, after I read that it was on the lines of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. Maybe this was my biggest mistake. When you set your standards too high, they tend trip and fall. Unfair to judge a book by another one. Completely my fault.Having said that, picture this, a group of super efficient ladies who are not only expert at throwing high end tea parties but also as brilliant with weapons and flying houses. These sophisticated ladies can swipe away your most prized possessions and you will never know. What a unique idea! I loved the whole concept of these notorious ladies dominating their side of the world. A witty tale with humorous dialogues and lovable characters. The plot moves between assassinations, kidnapping, handsome pirates and also has a romantic angle. The story revolves around Cecilia and her aunt and the handsome assasin Captain Neil Lightbourne.A light, enjoyable read that doesn't take life too seriously.

Absolute mayhem of the best kind
Austenland but make it pirates that steal houses that fly. This book was crazy and hilarious and romantic and an absolute delight. Loved every second of it.

A solid 9/10
Bridgerton-like characters with the addition of pirates and spies and hired assassins and flying houses. And not to forget, Queen Victoria, who can fly the whole Windsor Castle in her first attempt at magic. The humour is top notch.Book arrived on time and in good condition.

Unusual story with lots of plot twists
A society of female pirates who fly about in houses? Yes, that's how weird this story is, but it is full of hilarious characters and situations as well as the romance between innocent Cecilia and the rogue Ned.Excellent lively narration throughout makes it a thoroughly enjoyable book
