A book about female friendship.
Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah is a compelling novel that delves into the intricacies of female friendship. The story begins in the summer of 1974, when Kate Mularkey, a socially isolated girl with no friends at school, meets a new neighbor, Tully Hart. Despite their contrasting personalities, Kate and Tully become inseparable friends by the end of the summer, known affectionately as "TullyandKate."Their friendship spans more than three decades, enduring numerous challenges and life changes, including careers, marriages, and personal struggles. Through these ups and downs, their bond is continually tested, yet it remains a testament to loyalty, love, and forgiveness.Kristin Hannah's writing is both engaging and heartfelt, capturing the essence of Kate and Tully's deep connection. She skillfully develops their characters as the narrative progresses through different phases of their lives. While some plot points may come across as predictable or overly dramatic, this occasionally aligns with the nature of close female friendships.Overall, Firefly Lane is a beautiful exploration of the enduring power of friendship, and Hannah's portrayal of Kate and Tully's relationship is both authentic and moving.

Engrossing
Reminded me of Jodi Picoult's writing. A lovely story about the friendship between two girls/women. The ups and downs, highs and lows. A bit repetitive in parts, but definitely worth a read.

Not the best of her work…
If there is one author whom I would blindly trust for both realistic and heroic portrayal of women, then that is Kristin Hannah. But tell me, who held a gun to her head and made her write this? Who and why?! It's the story of two friends -Tully, who is extremely passionate and high-spirited with a traumatic childhood and Kate, who is calm and shy with a blessed family and is often bullied at school. They meet one day in Firefly Lane when they are twelve. Over the years, their friendship is threatened by many things that break them apart and bring them back together. With two polar besties and one stunning perfect man in the middle, you know that's a recipe for a disaster.Initially, I was so angry with myself for not liking the book. But as the story progressed, I became increasingly impatient, and I was relieved when I finished it. Tully was so shallow and inconsiderate, and often used her childhood trauma as an excuse for her irrational behaviour. I mean...? And Kate can't ever talk for herself and secretly feels insecure and jealous of her "best friend".As I kept reading, I questioned myself whether she was the same author who wrote masterpieces like 'The Nightingale' and 'The Great Alone'. It was hard for me to digest that the book was so mediocre compared to the other two I had read earlier. There are also so many too-good-to-be-true incidents, and the cliche climax was unbearable.

A story of decade long friendship.
Firefly Lane is my first ever Kristin Hannah experience. Even after knowing how hard hitting her stories can be, I was still surprised by how deep it went. Firefly Lane is not everyone's cup of tea. It has many trigger warnings. So make sure you do your research before picking it up. However, it is a story that stays with you hours after you finish reading. Particularly, because of the emotional rollercoaster ride that you are on with Kate and Tully.

Two Stars
Actually, I found it little disappointing, plus it left me with some questions.

Loved it!!!!
