A great quality hoop!
I had an impulse to buy a hula hoop after reading about the weight loss and toning benefits. This arrived promptly and broken down into its eight sections which all click together easily to form the hoop. I'm a 6ft guy and would say this is pretty heavy feeling so, if you are of slighter size I would suggest the lightest hoop to begin with.Of course, nothing worthwhile comes easily and hooping is, as I have found, not something most can simply pick up and get on with. It requires technique and practice. Fortunately YouTube is awash with instructional videos and I have now gone to no hoops to around 10-12 if I'm lucky. So don't expect not to have to work at it!The hoop itself is very large and covered in thick foam. Personally, I haven't found it painful to use but a few guests have so, again, you may wish to begin with the lighter hoop.Overall though, this seems excellent quality and I will persevere!

Beginners fitness hula hoop
This hula hoop states it is level 1 on the packaging so is ideal for a beginner like myself. I struggled at first to be able to keep the momentum going and have the bruises to show due to the massage beads. I thought it best to google tips for beginners and found 2 good tips...1 the correct sized hoop seems to be important and they recommend a hoop that will come from floor height to your naval. I am 5'6" and this hoop is spot on for my height but you are able to dismantle one or two of the connectors for a shorter height. 2 the you tube clips advised isolating the area you want to use the hoop on i.e. as a beginner you try and rotate every part of your anatomy to keep the hoop up but this is why the hoop falls. If you want to use the hoop on your hips then don't move your knees and torso just concentrate your movement on the hip area equally so if you are working on the stomach, try and only move the body area you are placing the hoop on. After 3 days I am improving, it is just getting the technique and bearing with it as it does hurt to start. I would give 5 stars if it had come with tips or an excercise routine.

Terrific
This is my second review of the weighted exercise hula hoop, but happy to provide one as I'm very pleased with the product. It's my first purchase of a hula hoop and I'd not been able to use one before when I attempted using my nieces hoop. Within a couple of tries I was spinning the hoop and could immediately feel the effects. The grooves and weighted element will no doubt help me to get fitter, and recovering from a broken wrist means I can exercise and not have to use my arms other than starting the hoop going.

toned abs BUT getting to keep the hola hoop up for 10 minutes is no easy feet - trust me
I purchased this for my sister. Just 10 minutes a day will get you a firm, toned abs BUT getting to keep the hola hoop up for 10 minutes is no easy feet - trust me. I thought I would be nail is after a few sessions but you have to work hard to improve but the results will be well worth it :). Just be aware as itnis weighted it will pummel your tummy and make it feel bruised. This model was much better than the other cheaper model I got myself - easy to connect and use and keeps its shape (whereas mine went wonky). Would recommend.

Hula Hoop Success!
Having never been able to hula before, it was always more of a picking up the hoop kind of exercise, I was surprised at how quick I was able to actually keep the hoop spinning. It's still not brilliant but it's a great start. You definitely feel like your working your abdominals and I have found that around my waist is a little tender but I'm not bruised or in anyway experiencing a pain that would prevent me from continuing this exercise. I am really happy with the hoop and hope to be spinning for a long time to come! I would recommend this hoop to all hula beginners.

Quite large, but still usable
I bought this in the hopes of both losing some weight and making my hips a little more rhythmic as i heard great dancers use this as a training tool. I have to say it hurts for the first week you use it but then you get used to the weight and it does pay off. You need quite a large open spaced area to exercise with it and it does come a little bigger than expected but after a few practice sessions it becomes really simple to use. It arrives disassembled in a small box which is handy for storage and it is fairly easy to build.

Good hoop
I bought this hoop when my old man be broke. I have been very pleased with it. It actually arrived earlier than expected and was packaged well. It is heavier then my old hoop, but as I am not a beginner was fine. I have read beginners are better off with smooth rather then wavy designed hoops. It was simple to assemble and I was able to use it straight away.

Hard plastic including the 'massage' bumps...
I have given this four stars, mainly for construction and value for money. However the 'massage bumps' on the inside should come with a health warning, both myself and my husband are very badly bruised after only three attempts to use it, very painful and ongoing discomfort! We have now bought the same make in the padded and weighted design and maybe one day this will come out the box with more confidence.
