Flex-a-lite31174 Variable Temperature Controller with Probe Style Quick Start

Works well
Bought for an electric conversion with a Flex-a-light 180. Instructions were easy to follow. Only 2 complaints. One of the fuse holder hold down bolt holes broke, but that was probably my fault for giving it too many uga-duggas. Temperature control setting seems finicky. I tried to set it up while watching the engine temp sensor on the OBD port, but that doesn't line up well with water outlet temperature. Set it up so that my water temp is never above 212F, wish I could have gone a little higher but the measurement location is not perfect in the radiator core (as opposed to cylinder head)

Eh...
Not sure what happened but I got this used and it does not vary the speed. Maybe someone swapped an old model for new? Also the temp probe in the radiator thing is a poor design. Get the threaded kind. If coolant level drops then heat wont be transferred to the probe if mounted up high.

Makes life easy.
This is the only way to fly if your installing an electric fan. Controls the fan like the OEM units in higher end cars. Variable speed is a nice feature for softer starts. Easy to wire, used heavy gauge 10 gauge wire, very sturdy and well made, not cheap plastic at all. Temp adjustment is an easy screwdriver adjustment. I used this with a Proform 15 inch HD electric 3000 com fan and it works like a charm in my sons 2003 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6.
