Nicely made, but frustrating game play
The game is high quality, the pieces are sturdy and attractive, and the idea is simple and appealing to toddlers. Choose either colours or shapes, and roll the die to choose a piece to add to your dinosaur. The first to fill your dinosaur wins. Its downfall is strategic game design. For the first piece you have a 100% chance of being able to add to your dinosaur. For the last piece you have a 16.66% chance of rolling the right piece. For a 2 year old, that is a lot of rolls where you don't get to do anything. Moreover, it is very possible to be winning up to the last minute, and then just not be able to roll the piece you need. I am all in favour of teaching children good sportsmanship from a young age, but this is unnecessarily frustrating I feel.As a modification, we let the youngest player add pieces to the spare dinosaur if they can't put something on their own, just so that they get to do more.I wouldn't buy again. I think there are less frustrating ways of teaching colours and shapes matching.Edited to add: We now have Beleduc's Rondo Vario which I would highly recommend as an alternative colours/shapes game. Roll the dice and pick up the correct colour/shape of bead, and add it to your caterpillar. Same skill set, but you have something to do between turns (threading your caterpillar), and although you sometimes miss a go it is rare. It is pricey though.

The best
Its awesomely designed, great for learning colours and shapes. Frequent repeated play. Highly recommend. In fact, all Orchard Toys stuff is fantastic.4 different colour / species dinos, double sided. One side is shapes, the other is colours.Only negative is - remember tis is just cardboard and will get wrecked when your LO inevitably pours water over it! ;-) I think companies should considered more hard wearing versions - but then they would probably be very expensive?

Lovely game for little ones
Nice sturdy pieces. One of my children's favourite orchard games. This game is a great game, super for teaching shapes and colours. My just turned two year old even sits and plays with the family on the colour side! Definitely recommend

Great game for learning shapes and colours
My son loves dinosaurs and was struggling to learn some of his shapes so I thought this game would be perfect for him and it was! He absolutely loves it and now knows all of his shapes. It’s great to find educational games that are fun - your kids learn without realising it!

Absolutely bonza!!
Orchard toys are generally brilliant! This was no exception. Bright, colourful and engaging. Brought for my 2 and a half year old. This is actually one of his toys that holds his attention... for the duration of the game. He’s not quite ready for the shapes yet but he’s all over the colours!
