Do not buy !
Do not buy this. Red light on from first use. We can’t even return it as we can’t find the box. I’m giving it 1 star as - when it worked - for 5 hours- it was excellent. Waste of money

Works well - good value
This warm mist humidifier is excellent value for money. As it gets colder in the midst of the covid pandemic, every little cough causes worry even if it is caused by dryness in the air due to the central heating. I had this humidifier on for the last 3 nights and the itchiness in my throat ceased totally and I was able sleep all night without any throat discomfort at all. I didn’t use the Vicks pads because eucalyptus oil in the blue cup on top worked perfectly. Just a brief point on the labelling and apparently mistaken branding placed on this product: it is not MADE by Vicks. As indicated on the box (shown in the picture) is RECOMMENDED by Vicks, so it should not be identified on Amazon as Vicks product. We assumed it was both made and recommended by Vicks until my husband read the disclaimer on the paperwork inside. It said “Helen of Troy takes no responsibility...” So my husband called the customer service number to ask if this was some kind of misprint and we found out the manufacturer is a company named Helen Of Troy.

Much better then the cold mist humidifiers
Replaced my ultrasonic cold mist humidifier with this hot mist one. The ultrasonic humidifier failed to raise humidity levels for large rooms, as the cold mist would just fall to the ground leading to a wet floor. With this warm mist humidifier the mist rises up very fast, even at the highest setting, and is evenly distributed around the room, quickly raising humidity levels.

If you have a water softener, read this
Millions of people have water softeners fitted but reviewers talk as though we don't existThe big problem with ultrasonic humidifiers is is that most of the impurities in the water get deposited as a fine white dust that coats everything, so the whole room needs cleaning almost continually. This happens whether a water softener is fitted or not and the dust in the air also produces stuffy sinuses. It does not happen with vaporising humidifiers like this one, where the impurities are left in the bottom of the tank and will also fur up the heating element. The water vapour is literally distilled water. With hard water, the deposits are limescale, which requires soaking in acids and probably hard brushing as well to dissolve it but with softened water, these ions have been replaced by sodium ones. The huge difference is that sodium is very readily soluble in water and I clean the heating element with a 1 inch paint brush dipped in water – it just takes a minute, that's all.So, if you have a water softener, this type of machine is the one to go for. You don't get everything in the room coated with dust, you get clean air to breathe and you don't have to struggle to clean the element with acids. In case you're in any doubt, I have no connection with the manufacturers or sellers and bought two of these humidifiers with my own money.

A used item was delivered; but works quite well anyway
Amazon delivered an item that was already used by someone. And that someone added essential oils into the water tank (which is not recommended by the manual). So when I switched this on, the smell of those oils started filling the room. I had to switch it off, and wash everything with liquid soap (be extremely careful about the part with electronic components). Thorough washing removed the smell, and the device is humidifying the air quite well for the last month. One tank is enough for around 10 hours of operation on the small setting. It is also not noisy, just some white shhhh noise from the water boiling on the heater.

It didn't work... So can only give 1 star.
Can't really say much about this apart from it didn't work.... Easy to set up, read instructions, filled it up, switched it on....... Red light went on and it switched off after a minute.Followed the reset instructions in manual.... Same thing happened. Wish i'd spent a few quid more for a decent one instead of this junk.Currently returning it for a refund.
