This car seat is awesome! My son and I were unfortunately in a horrible accident. A semi-truck cut me off on the freeway, causing my car to spin and then flip over. My car was totaled. While hanging upside down, my son say saftley secured. The car seat didn't move at all!! My son walked (crawled?) away without so much as a scratch! As did I! It definitely saved my sons life. Also it's pretty cute! Not too big not too small. It's fits perfectly in my husbands toyota Corrolla (not the biggest car). I repurchased it to replace the one that had been in an accident almost immediately!

Original Comment/Complaint:The anchor latch strap is very difficult to release when you want to remove the seat. I would appreciate a reply from the manufacturer with a solution if they are monitoring these reviews.November 26, 2018 - Update to my original complaint/comment:I called Graco's customer service line to discuss the latching/unlatching problems I had with the latch belt. The customer service rep was most helpful. While he explained that the belt was not defective, he confirmed that this particular latch belt model was more difficult to operate than others. He offered to send a free replacement car seat similar to the Contender 65 I originally purchased, explaining that it had a latch belt that was easier to latch/unlatch. Of course, I accepted his offer and am awaiting the replacement model's arrival. I will return the original car seat to Graco for their engineering team's evaluation.NOTE: When I suggested I simply use a latch belt from another model, the Graco tech rep strongly advised never to use a latch belt other than what they provide at the factory with each model, as each is specifially tested to meet crash standards with the matching car seat.So, while I will keep my one star rating for the poorly designed latch belt, I will give 5 stars to Graco for their knowledgeable and caring customer service.

This new version of the Contender 65 really made it difficult to release the main restraint adjustment strap. If the seat is in rear facing setup I can barely get my hand into a position to release the belt. I've got an older version that was much easier to adjust. Not impressed with this new design. My MIL can't use this seat when she watches my kids because of this new configuration. Need 2 more seats like this but won't buy another Contender 65.
