great
The media could not be loaded. These gloves are a huge improvement on trying to use traditional oven mitts. All of your hand and wrist is protected, the gloves have a non slip, sticky, yet fireproof, coating. When you pick remove a casserole dish from a hot over you always feel safe from being burned and have no worries you will drop it.To test just how heat resistant these are I handled hot coals from my BBQ smoker (see video). The gloves protected me from the heat, and no damage occurred to the gloves.

Great for Handling Hot Pizza Pans
I spend a good portion of my time in the kitchen and I use hot pads and oven mitts for a number of tasks. Not all gloves and mitts work for every task, though. I have a special task for which I use these gloves – removing my pizza pans from the hot oven. Mitts are awkward and it is too easy to burn myself with regular pot holders. These gloves are the perfect tool for the job.Unlike regular oven mitts, these are actual gloves, with five fingers. That makes gripping a lot easier. However, each finger also has a silicone pattern painted on to improve grip. The gloves supposedly can handle temperatures up to 900+ degrees (so if you ever visit Venus, take these with you), but I need them for temperatures up to 450 degrees. These got a real test yesterday. I have special pizza pans that I use for making pizza, and there is no easy way to pull these from the oven. Mitts are awkward – I can work with them but I run a risk of dipping them in the pizza when lifting the pans, and pot holders are even worse as it is too easy to have them slip. I wore these gloves and I was able to pick up the pans by the edges and even balance one on the palm without scorching the glove or even coming close to burning my hand. I did not get the gloves dirty, I never lost my grip and my hands were completely protected. All bets are off if you get these wet. Do not try to use these if you get them wet as you will definitely scorch your skin when handling sufficiently hot things like a cast iron pan. These gloves meet a need I have in my kitchen and they work well for me. They’re a little on the pricey side, but they work so much better than a pair of mitts or potholders when taking a hot, handle-less pan from the oven.Disclosure: I was provided a sample of this product in exchange for a fair, honest and thorough review. Even though I received this product at minimal or no cost I have rated and reviewed this product without bias, based solely on my experience with it.

These are so much better than those silicone mitts...
I was sent a review sample of these gloves. After using them for almost two weeks, I've tossed several pair of silicone gloves into the trash...these are that much better. They're better insulated, fit my hand, and are much more flexible.I bake bread using the Dutch Oven technique. Basically, you preheat a cast iron dutch oven to 475*F, put the dough inside and then put the top onto the base. Using my old silicone gloves, I had about five seconds from when I picked up the top until the heat started to seep though. Usually that was enough, but on more than one occasion, I ended up with medium-rare fingers. Very annoying.I've never had that happen with these gloves, The woven material traps enough air that they're amazingly well insulated. The outer and inner layers are Aramid Fiber, which is used in fire-resistant suits, body armor and other extreme applications. Aramid starts to degrade at 500*C (which equals the 932*F in the product description), but as a practical matter (and outside of open flames) most kitchen applications will never get that hot. Look up Aramid in Wikipedia if you want more information.Design-wise, these gloves designed to fit the human hand. With short, wide fingers, most of the silicone ones look like they belong as part of a colorful clown costume. The base of these gloves extends well past the wrist, providing further protection from hot environments. My only caution is that they must be kept dry. The woven material allows steam to pass through. If these gloves are wet and you touch something hot, you're liable to get burned...solid silicone gloves would be better in that instance. Outside of that, these are awesome.

Unless that you have like professional basketball player size hands these gloves will be ...
Ok...here's the deal with these gloves and why I am reviewing them so low. Unless that you have like professional basketball player size hands these gloves will be too big. I am 6'1" tall and about 205 lbs....I don't find that many gloves that are just too big.. Well the gloves that arrived were like 4 times too large for me...they would and will not work...just too bulky. The unfortunate thing about these heat resistant gloves is they are very high quality. I can tell they are made well and would perform and look amazing if they would fit. To add to the review above I am an amazon reviewer and received the gloves at a discounted or free price. They received 2 stars because these are nice gloves just way too large.

Pass the DIRECT FLAME TEST in My Video
The media could not be loaded. On your next trip to the sun, bring a pair of these gloves with you. As you can see in my video, they can actually handle a DIRECT FLAME, which is pretty amazing. Some warmth is transmitted from the fire into the glove, but not much. Handling hot metal pots and pans is no problem with these. They will transform you to the beast master of your outdoor barbecue grill. The only odd thing about these gloves is the super-XXL size, but they are amazing in every other way. Can be used in welding, blacksmithing, and working on hot engines -- in addition to cooking. On your next trip to the sun, bring a pair of these.
