Brilliant pieces of confounding literature
Naiyer Masud is sometimes compared to other authors, especially Kafka. I think that is a mistake. Masud is as original as any author I have ever read, going another level above Kafka's style into a world entirely of his own imagination. Honestly, it made me think of the brilliant Japanese author Haruki Murakami, but I don't think that's a fair comparison either. Masud is his own genre.Every sentence of the little short stories in this book is simple and innocent in itself...but the sentences are combined in a manner no other mind would conceive. Every short story is without beginning or end and bizarre to an unusual extreme...yet the stories weave together to create a true narrative. When I had finished all the stories in the book, I had to immediately start over from the beginning, and picked up completely new insights that could only be seen when all the accounts have been woven together. You make like it or not, think of it as pointless or profound, but I think it would be difficult to argue the brilliance of the author.
