Excellent lens from tamron
This is my second third party lens for my nikon (old school) D90. My first 24-70 mm works very well. I also checked the reviews for this lens and it work with Nikon D90. I am very excited to receive this lens with wide range of focal lengths. However, it is not working with my Nikon D90. I checked it with my friend's Nikon camera and it works. So i will end up buying another camera body LOL :)

The 16-300mm is an excellent upgrade from Tamron's 18-200mm lens.
In December of 2015, a month into beginning DSLR photography, i purchased the Tamron 18-200mm lens for several reasons. I was homeless, on a limited budget being disabled and i was able to find one refurbished online for several hundred dollars less than what they still sold for at the time new. I needed one lens that was capable of photographing nature up close doing macro work and also had the desire to be able to photograph wildlife at a distance. I began with nature photography mostly here, traveling to Issaquah, WA each day and the kit Nikkor 18-55mm lens that comes with the Nikon D3300, while a great lens for macro and landscape photography is not suitable for photographing birds at a distance which was something i was interested in.Given my living situation, space and weight limitations and concern over protecting my camera and any lens(es) i carried, the idea of having one lens i could keep on the body of my Nikon, reducing the chances of debris, moisture and dust from entering by switching lenses while out was a major factor in my seeking a single versatile option. Since i was limited in finances i also needed something that was more affordable and Tamron was one of the options i began looking at.For years the Tamron 18-200mm lens has been on my D3300, capturing the world around me both on and now off the streets and it continues to be something i'm just as happy with now as i was the first day i began using it. I wouldn't have the DSLR portfolio i have now if it had not been for that lens, my being able to obtain one refurbished online much cheaper and i'll always be thankful for the experience.A couple years ago when beginning shooting architecture and especially more abstract reflections in architecture, sometimes at a great distance here in Downtown Seattle, i began considering what else could help me in this goal. I looked at lenses by several manufacturers but wasn't surprised that Tamron once again was the company that was going to be the right fit for me.As soon as a i saw the Tamron 16-300mm lens i knew that was my goal for the future, it was the best upgrade from my current 18-200mm and would allow me to carry one lens and be able to focus on everything i do in the moment when out shooting here. It's important to me to be able to capture something well and then quickly move on to the next subject, it's how i best enjoy the adventure of photography as it's how it all began for me. For me, that means i need to be able to shoot a macro shot of something i find interesting and then moments later photograph a reflection at the top of a skyscraper in Downtown Seattle where i live. That versatility and ability to capture whatever intrigues me and then move on to the next subject, no matter what it is and how near or distant is essential. It took me a few years of patiently waiting, still loving every moment of using my Tamron 18-200mm that i shot nearly everything with for 4 years but this month i was finally able to find a great deal on the lens i've dreamed of upgrading to and today it arrived. I was able to find one used in excellent condition with a return policy for half the price they still sell for new and upon arrival, initial inspection and tests, everything is great. No dust in the lenses, no scratches, auto focusing works and test shots all came out perfect. It was packed very well and i'm thrilled to finally own one, i don't mind purchasing something refurbished or used provided it has a great return policy and is described as stated. It was listed as in 'excellent' condition and is, i've no complaints.First Impressions:The Tamron 16-300mm lens is a bit larger (67mm) than the Tamron 18-200mm (62mm) but is not awkward to carry in my hand on my Nikon. I also carry my Nikon when out slung over my chest on one shoulder between shots at times and there is no noticeable difference when holding it on my body in this way.The first thing i noticed immediately was the increased weight which didn't surprise me but it's still completely comfortable when holding the camera in my hand as i often do with the strap wound tightly around my hand a few times to prevent dropping it. It feels solid, my 18-200mm lens felt great on my D3300 for years and this in terms of ergonomics and switching to a new lens feels very natural.Since i rarely hang my camera around my neck, it's always in my hand or slung over one shoulder across my chest and tucked under my arm on my side, the increased weight and change in how it sits when carried like that isn't an issue for me. It may be something others who do place their cameras on their neck more often might find some getting used to but the only time i ever put the strap around my neck is for shots looking out over the edge of something up high or whenever shooting over water or something that would ensure loss of my Nikon if dropped. I've never dropped my Nikon and i don't plan on making that something i'm inclined to do but i do take precautions by putting the strap around my neck in certain situations, always to make sure. It's extremely quiet, impressively quiet. I was used to the sound of my Tamron 18-200mm lens which had a distinct sound to it i came to know and love and i immediately noticed how little noise the Tamron 16-300mm lens makes when auto-focusing. It's also quick, with initial tests both inside and outdoors in front of my apartment building it performed just as well as my 18-200mm did with auto-focusing and perhaps a bit better. I've not used it extensively yet but it did feel like there was a slight reduction in focus time with it but it wasn't an overwhelming or substantial difference i noticed testing it. I rarely shoot anything moving quickly and it's not something i necessarily need but it certainly helps in moving from one subject to another when out shooting for hours here and focusing on the world around me.The few initial test shots i did with it this afternoon after receiving it were 16mm shots indoors inside my apartment to see how much more of a scene i could capture which resulted in an expected and noticeable improvement with 16mm vs the 18mm my old lens was capable of, a few macro shots which it performed well at with a noticeable slight improvement in auto-focus time when shooting macro subjects, and a few shots outdoors where i was able to capture the tops of skyscrapers half way across Downtown Seattle with stunning clarity on a cloudy day during the late afternoon with limited natural light. Shots taken both with and without Tamron's VR enabled on the lens performed equal to what i would have expected when disabling that on the 18-200mm. Without it, i wouldn't be able to capture what i do, what i have done for years without ever carrying a tripod. The Tamron 16-300mm lens is no exception and it was the perfect upgrade for what i shoot, how i shoot and for my budget. The ONLY thing that is going to take a bit of getting used to is a slightly different placement of the zoom lock switch. During 4 years of shooting almost exclusively with the Tamron 18-200mm my thumb is accustomed to locking the zoom ring by touch. The placement of the zoom lock switch on the Tamron 16-300mm lens is further up, past the manual focus ring and is also a bit more recessed than the lock on the 18-200mm. For now i'll always be visually ensuring i lock the lens after each shot but i imagine over time it will become more natural. If there is anything design related i would have wanted changed it's a less recessed lock switch, something i could more easily feel and know it was locked without having to look at it.I'm every bit as impressed as i imagined i would be having used their 18-200mm for years and anticipating the increased capabilities this lens would offer.

So very pleased
Love this lens! It replaces several lenses & travels well...ironically though this is a replacement (now on a Nikon D5600) for one stolen along with our D5200 while on vacation! The range from 16mm-300mm means you will never have to miss a shot! We couldn't be happier with the product & the seller. It came quickly & at an excellently price!
