These are not small nor do they smell good. My dog would not eat them out of my hand or in a pill pocket. But I just smash it up and mix it in with his food and he eats. Now for their purpose, my dog was diagnosed in dec with stage 2 kidney disease creatine was 2.0 and Bun was high 40s. We decided to give them the holidays to eat as he wanted and then we would flip to kidney friendly diet and supplements. In Jan we started with royal canine renal dry F mixed with 1/4 can of Royal Canine wet D. With it he gets this supplement and coenzyme q10 from vetri science. We did level check about a week ago his creatine dropped to 1.1 and BUN was 25. So much better thee vet was extremely impressed. These work they my not bee small or smell good but they help any dog battling kidney problems.

Ridiculously HUGE pills, impossible to administer
The pills in this bottle are ridiculously, absurdly huge. They are called "chewable," but don't believe it. I have occasionally bought various companies' "chewable" pills for the dogs I've had over many years, and I have never yet had any dog ever actually chew or eat a so-called "chewable" pill. These pills in particular are the absolutely largest "chewable" pills I have ever seen. They are gigantic. Even if broken up into quarters, the quarters are still too large to give to a dog like a normal pill. The ONLY way I can give my dog the 1-1/2 Vetriscience Renal Essentials pills she is supposed to take is to use a pill splitter and divide 1 pill into 8 pieces. So for her to take 1-1/2 pills, I have to give her 12 SEPARATE pills (each of them being 1/8 of a tablet). It is ridiculous! It's stressful for her and a pain for both of us.So I then tried griding up these enormous pills in a mortar and pestle. They grind easily into a fine powder, but the powder stinks and when I mix it with my dog's favorite treats (like beef or chicken baby food puree), my dog absolutely refuses to touch it. I don't blame her, as it smells terrible. Here's a note to this company: Please put your products into a manageable size of CAPSULE or PILL (that is NON CHEWABLE) so that dog owners can simply administer a normal pill to their dogs. I've never had a dog I couldn't give a pill to. Dogs are good pill takers! But when it comes to "chewable" pills, they are a hoax -- they just do not work. And these pills in particular are absurdly large and smell so bad. It's no wonder my dog refuses to have anything to do with them.

Medicinal Mushrooms can save your dog's life.
My name is Brian and I recently lost my best friend Rocky an Alsatian GSD two prostate cancer. I found out about your product through dr. Basko in Hawaii. Miami International brand ambassador for the finest and the first CBD oil for dogs. It's called Dr Hempdog. Please check out our website at Drhempdog.com as well as on Instagram at #drhempdog up to now we have only spread our product through networking, dog shows and Word of Mouth. I am starting a new web page because I feel half the dogs over 9 dying of cancer is totally unacceptable. If I had learned about your products earlier I may have prolonged my dog's life. Our motto is we do this for them. Our product was born out of love by our founder for his own dog cool AKA Dr hempdog. We met at a dog park through our dogs. See the pictures above. I have seen Miracles occur with our products which I have been working with for over 3 years now. I would like to speak to you regarding representingyour products on a website that I'm developing. There are many factors that go into a dog's cancer. Genetic disposition being one of the biggest factors in large dogs. I will be contacting you soon talk about this. I suggest we join forces I try to lick this problem no pun intended.

BIG pills
I'm giving this supplement to my 22-pound, 13-year-old doxie-mix to combat diminished kidney function. She had cancer earlier this year which required half her lower jaw to be removed. Eating anything tends to take her longer, but she can eat both soft and hard foods if given time to do so. She hates taking pills and these are HUGE even when broken in half. The smokey scent and flavoring added to the supplement may be enticing to some dogs, but my dog quickly turned her nose up and walked away when offered this pill by itself. I have to break them in half, then hide them in chopped meat. I've tried hiding in Pill Pockets, cheese, bread, etc... but she is very smart and has learned my tricks! This seems to be the only way I can get them down her gullet short of stuffing them down manually, which I won't do.She is currently getting this supplement, cranberry supplement and antibiotics for a persistent bladder infection. I am also adding plain yogurt to the mix to prevent yeast overgrowth. I will have her renal function retested in mid-October and update this review after that vet visit. I did see this product on the vet's shelf (for sale at the vet's office), so I am optimistic that it will help her bladder and kidney health.

Has really helped my dog
My vet recommended this supplement along with a special kidney diet when I found out my little 16 yr old dog was in early stage renal failure. The tablets are large and he’s a small boy and doesn’t have all his teeth left so I do have to cut the tablet up and mix it into his food but that is a minor inconvenience compared to the good it’s done for my boy.He was vomiting all the time and had lost a lot of weight (and he was small already). His kidney function was just awful and I didn’t have high hopes he would last a whole lot longer. Took him back for a recheck a month and a half later and in that time his vomiting had stopped and his kidney lab values had really improved!!! The combination of this supplement and the special diet is helping keep my sweet boy around and comfortable a while longer.

Large, crumbly, and smelly
I would not recommend this product. Their chewable version is a significant improvement, but I wanted to try something more cost efficient and figured my dog basically eats anything anyway. Listen to the reviews all saying how large, smelly, and crumbly they are because it is just that and if you have a large dog like me, be prepared to give 2-3 tabs. Not worth the hassle IMO.
