NOT SAFE FOR BIRD FEEDERS!!!
I’m sorry to post something sad, but I think it’s important for others to know that this can happen. A goldfinch got caught in one of my feeder poles today and its leg was badly broken.I took it to a wildlife rehabilitation center, but the vet said the most humane thing would be to euthanize it. I’m absolutely devastated that this has happened. The manufacturer should have placed a weld at the joint, and the fact that they didn’t makes this item dangerous for wildlife. Definitely do not recommend for outdoor use.

Doesn’t hold much weight
I bought these to hold hanging plants, but they are too flimsy to hold my average sized plants. Regardless of whether I hang just one or two to try to balance the weight, the entire pole bends precariously. Another deck hook that we own can hold the plants, so it’s these ones that are the issue. I’d love to return them, but the box that they came in is too large to use an Amazon locker, so it would be a huge hassle. For now, we are using one for a bird feeder, though that seems to be near the max capacity for these hooks and I won’t be surprised if a heavy bird or a strong gust of wind knocks the whole thing down. The other one holds wind chimes just fine...so it would work well if you have a lot of wind chimes or very small bird feeders.

Easy and sturdy hanging basket deck hook
I liked that it was very easy to install and the result was beautiful and, as far as I can tell, is holding well. It has been up for about a week with no issues. Mouth of clamp was wide enough to fit most deck railing.Bought another and it's basically the same, although it came in a GIGANTIC box that could have held 50 of them. Not too sure what that was about. It seems fine so far and is going to hold two hummingbird feeders.

Not sturdy or worth the money (not fit for purpose)
These double-sided deck hooks are NOT sturdy at all. The metal pole is just NOT strong enough! It’s basically ok if you are using for pretty lightweight bird feeders but if you plan to use it for hanging basket, forget it. Once you put either 1 (or even 2 - to counterbalance any weight on it) hanging basket(s) on them, the pole eventually bends over - a little to begin with & then further & further if it rains. As the bottom of the circular holder on the base (where it’s attached to the deck) is welded closed (e.g. blocked) - at the bottom - you can’t reduce or adjust the height of the pole and that length, coupled with the weight (approx 10lbs each) of hanging basket(s), the pole reaches the point where it basically bends right over and then spins around (despite the holding screw at the side being as tight as possible). We bought two of these and ultimately, my husband had to cut the length of the poles much shorter to try to reduce the pull on the top. Now I give up & have to throw these out - what a waste of money!!! I’d suggest any buyer sticks to the Cast Iron single (square pole) holders as the base on these are adjustable & therefore don’t bend (not matter how heavy a hanging basket is).

Too short to be squirrel-proof but good stand overall
Update: the squirrels figured out right away how to jump straight to the feeder. The stand would need to be much taller (or the baffle, which is 18 inches wide, much wider) to stop them. On the other hand, never got around to reinforcing it, and even with the squirrels jumping and hanging out on one side, hasn't toppled, so it's strong after all.Original review: Got it to hang a bird feeder; our previous feeder pole was inclined, not vertical, and the squirrels would climb it. By itself, this pole isn't tall enough to deter squirrels, as they will still jump to the middle part and get to the feeder. But once you add the baffle it's all good. It's visually appealing, and you can choose what orientation the hangers have. Only problem is that it's weak. Has a problem holding just 1 pound of bird seed (tilts to that side) and when the birds land and take off, the whole thing sways a lot. Will fix by adding a metal mending plate at the base, but would be nice not to have to go through that extra effort.

Looks nice, better for bird feeders than hanging baskets
I had to modify the 1/4 in. steel stock used for the main extension. Two standard hanging baskets caused a lot bending because of the length. 3/4 in. iron pipe works well at the top but you have to notch and shim the bottom where it meets the bracket. Not Forged in Fire quality, but the mod looks good with the right flat spray paint. The bottom bracket is very sturdy. I used a 1/2 lag bolt for extra mechanical attachment (not supplied). Seems to me that 3/8 or 1/2 steel stock would be better for the length of the extension at 46 in.

Needs a screw slot on the bottom of the knob to tighten to the deck.
I bought 2 of these. I don’t like the way the knobs are made. They don’t work for my deck railing. I had to use tie wraps & a bungee cord on one of them to attach it to my deck. One attached perfectly, but, the other one not so perfect! As you can see in the pics the knobs are not all that good they way they are built. There is no room to use them because of the way the deck is built. There is room for a screw in the top part of this to secure it to the deck railing, but, I do not want to put a hole in my railing.

The hooks look very nice. The description said they would fit on a 2x6 rail, but my husband had to make a place to attached them that was slightly smaller than a 2x4. The description says they will hold 20 pounds, which I thought was lots, but when you hand two pots and water them they would probably weigh at least that or more. The stem of the hook was bending with the weight and we had to make an addition wooden support to pass the rod through to keep it upright and not bending. They could be a lot stronger in my opinion. but again, they look nice.
