Good product.

I bought this for use in a hurricane lantern, fearing paraffin- which hitherto I had never used- would be too unpleasant a smell. It works fine. I can barely detect a smell from the open bottle, and I can't smell it at all from the lamp whether it is burning or not. Since then I have bought some BS 2869: C1 grade (home heating grade) paraffin. I can tell you that the smell of the paraffin, if spilled, or when a bottle or the lamp fuel tank is opened, is nauseating. However, when the fuel cap to the hurricane lamp is tightly closed, I can barely smell it- and the paraffin burns much more brightly than this oil. So much so that it is uncomfortable to look directly at the flame. I feel I know enough now to say that if you have a lamp with a tightly sealed fuel reservoir and you are actually using it to light a room, you should use C1 paraffin. If however, you are using a lamp with an open reservoir, or you are burning an oil candle as a decoration, especially as, for instance, a table piece at dinner or to heat incence- i.e. an application where you can't accept off-putting smells, or will be viewing the flame directly rather than trying to read by it, buy this lamp oil. Compared to paraffin it is more pleasant to handle, more pleasant to handle, and more pleasant to look at.

I've used a few lamp oils in the past and they all have a residual smell which isn't pleasant, I decided to try this one as a recommendation from a friend.So glad I did...in the winter I use my lanterns a lot,they always warm up a room and look beautiful.This oil has absolutely 💯 no smell at all and I will be using this lamp oil in all my lanterns going forward.It does smoke if you turn them up full flame,but they all do that so it's not a downer for me.My flame in the picture is up plenty enough but isn't smoking at all so overall I'm very impressed.My lamp has been on for 2 hours now and can't smell anything when leaving and re-entering the room.Would definitely recommend if you like to actually use your lanterns indoors like I do.Also this oil will NOT burn without a wick which for me is a great security measure if I accidentally spill it.

Works well without smell or smoke

You cannot expect a clean burn with the wrong setup, so first trim your wick and set it’s height correctly.This oil works great. Burns clean without smoke, soot, smell or residue. My lamp is spotlessly clean after burning all evening.The raw product in the bottle does have mild odour, but you need to be closer than 6 inches to notice. And there is no smell when lit.I bought this oil based on other reviews which suggested it burned cleaner than some other ones. Difficult to say if this is true given that all oils will need to at least meet BSS2869 spec, so any difference is likely minimal, but I paid the small premium for piece of mind.Nevertheless am happy with purchase, well packed and delivered.

I cant really compare it with other lamp oils as this is my first purchase, but I bought this one as it said it was odourless. I find that there is certainly a smell when using it indoors so for those that want NO smell, dont buy. Otherwise its good.
