Surprisingly good, especially at the low price.
I've used a lot of shaving brushes over the last decade or so, and I find that I tend to favor synthetics for their easy care as general softness. I bought this brush mainly because I liked the look of the handle and it was cheap, but it has quickly become my daily brush.Compared to the popular "Plisson-style" knots that most synthetic brushes use these days, this brush has significantly more backbone. I don't know if it is a denser knot like the description claims (it doesn't SEEM denser) or if the fibers are just a little bit thicker but it doesn't flatten out as quickly as many other synthetics do however it DOES splay easily when lathering your face.I also find the extra backbone gives this brush a little more "scritch" than many synthetics. It is soft, but you can feel it scrubbing your face a little while lathering which is actually very pleasant. It isn't as scritchy as boar or black badger, but not as silky soft as the Plisson-style synthetics either.Overall this is a great brush! It is durable, has a gorgeous handle that feels comfortable in my hand. It loads soap and lathers like a champ. It has replaced many more expensive brushes as my daily shaving brush.

Love it
So, I have used badger hair brushes, bristle brushes, and horse hair brushes; this is my first synthetic brush and my first brush under $50. It is much more dense than any animal hair brush I have ever used, which makes the knot fairly stiff. This makes it very easy to whip up a very nice and thick lather. I would say it takes about half the effort of a badger brush to get your lather ready. The tip of the brush is very soft; somewhere between my badger and horsehair brushes. It doesn't carry as much water as an animal hair brush, so I flick it out less and it's good to go to gather my soap. Soaking it gives no advantage, so it saves me that effort. It rinses out quickly and dries easily. It also has yet to shed a single strand.I bought the brush to try out as a travel brush since they dry faster. I also really hate how animal hair brushes are created and how the animals are treated in captivity. So, this made a lot of sense. However, I am switching to this as my primary brush and ordering another for travel. My current horsehair brush is basically worn out, so I will move to synthetics permanently now. Besides, I can try like 5 of these for the price of even a decent badger brush, much less a high end one.

It is a good synthetic shaving brush!
This is a decent shaving brush that is soft yet firm, and although it shed a few bristles during its first use, I haven't had any fall off since. Applying lather with the brush feels soft and luxurious, and it keeps a good load and even spread. It whips up a decent lather, although I have had other brushes that do it better. The fact that the bristles don't bend and spread out over time like a natural bristle brush, which allows more air into the lather during prep, is likely the reason. It's a trade off: A more consistent synthetic brush that keeps excellent form vs. a brush that will make a better lather over time, but will have some bristle shedding as its characteristics change over time.If you like super frothy and thick lather, this brush will have you working hard to achieve the effect, but if you use an expensive lather with high tallow that doesn't require a lot of froth, this synthetic brush will serve you well.

The problem with synthetic brushes. . .
The biggest problem with using a synthetic shaving brush is that you're using a synthetic shaving brush. I recently bought this company's budget badger brush (see separate review), and got this one to compare. There's no comparison.Like all synthetic brushes I've tried, and that's at least four of them, this is way too soft. The point of using a brush is to massage the soap foam into the whiskers, making them stand up and get soft for shaving. That's why badger and pig bristles are popular: they have enough spine to scratch a little. Not in a bad way.Not so this or any other synthetic. This one is way too soft. You might as well just apply the soap with your fingers.I got the blue handle because it appeared larger than the brown. I thought that would be a good thing. I was wrong. The handle is slightly more awkward to use, not less. The translucent plastic has little sparkly glitter mixed in, if you like that sort of thing. I don't.I've used it, so I can't send it back. But neither will I keep using it except perhaps as a backup or maybe for travel. I don't like it. Stick to badger.

I quite love this brush.
First off, the pictures don't do it justice, it looks much better in person. Second, I'm against animal cruelty so I'm glad this brush isn't made from badger or boar hair. Third, based off of the popular YouTuber Sinatra Lennon, I chose a synthetic brush for all the praise he gives them. With all the being said, the brush really is great at creating some good lather. It's also so soft my girlfriend said it almost feels like a makeup brush. I love how this feels not only up against my face, but also for when I shave my legs. If my brush ever broke I'd buy another one of these brushes in a heartbeat.
