I doubled it up and told my husband to break it and it popped like nothing. I sold shoes when sperry was hot and we would pull those laces, they never broke. I make jewelry and sell it so no way for me and as far as shoe laces id say no but if u def need whatever this is....its a whole huge roll. Definitely great amount for the cost
