Magna Carta: And the Disorganized Constitution of the United Kingdom of Great Britain

A very good book. It is a book that should be more accessible; it is a valued text book for schools and colleges.

Heavy reading but everyone should read and understand the constitution

Spelling is bad everywhere, and parts are missing. For example... "No scutage not aid" (visible in the "look-inside") should be "no scutage nor aid" - many other mistakes completely alter the meaning.I also have their US Constitution book, from the same series ... on the back it refers to the "Manga Carta" ... Manga is, of course, a style of Japanese comic book or graphic novel. The spelling is seriously bad across their entire range as far as I can tell.I can only assume that there has been no editing or quality checks. Just a very rushed and lazy product. Wish I hadn't bothered. The only decent thing about it is the cover.

The Magna Carta is English NOT British.The British do not have a constitution, the English do! That's why there's no option to tick English, under nationality, on government forms!English and Scottish law is different. Scottish law is Roman law, English law should be common law, but the way the legal system works in England now you would never know!England the only country in EU without a parliament... It almost as if they want us gone and the Magna Carta, Bill of Rights, Acts of Settlement (well worth a read to see how corrupt we have become) etc, are the reasons why.

There is nothing " Disorganized " regarding our Constitution. Magna Carta 1215 is our ONLY written Constitution and it's Articles are clear for all to read. Those versions that came after purporting to be" Magna Carta " have all been mutilated by statutory and thus invalid abridgment. With the Union of 1707, Magna Carta has extended it's supreme protection to all of Great Britain. It should be noted that the Petition of Right 1628 and the Declaration / Bill of Rights 1689 etc are statutes and NOT constitutional.The authority on Magna Carta 1215 is a book called " Democracy Defined - The Manifesto " by constitutional expert Kenn D'Oudney.

It’s look’s better than I thought it would

I’m sure there’s higher quality editions out there. The index has the chapters wrongly numbered. I also bought the Australian Constitution, which is meant to be the same edition as the Carta Magna, and not only it has the same index numbering issue but the format is not consistent accross both books.Disappointing.

Too expensive for what it is. The cover looked good on Amazon but cheap irl and very few pages.

The British Constitution is often referred to as being "unwritten", as it is based on precedents and a series of proclamations and laws. The Magna Charta is a watershed in this development, as it limits the power of the Monarch, and establishes the principle of habeus corpus, the right to a fair trial.
