I bought this Kryptonite Keeper 12 lock Standard with Flex for my daughters bike. On receipt I read a warning on the packaging that the product contains lead and recommends washing your hands after handling. I therefore wouldn't recommend and have returned the lock.

Unfortunately although when locked up the lock is very secure, I cant help but be extremely disappointed that I bought this only a month ago and it is already going rusty and sticking. In reality im going to have to buy a new lock before the month is out and £20 for a months use is pretty poor if you ask me :( . DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

The key would not fit in the lock at first and had to be persuaded with oil and some force. This is poor but with patience it can be got to work.The slider attachment that locates the device in its holder is now made of plastic, rather than the original metal, and it slips. The cause of the slipping is a really bad piece of engineering, a lock nut is located in a hexagonal recess so that the slider can be secured by a bolt, but the supplied nut is too small and as soon as it it stressed it rotates and the bolt never tightens. The real problem is that when the slider slips it prevents the lock from closing. It becomes useless.I have dripped thick superglue into the recess and set the nut into it, being careful not to allow the glue into the thread. This is a total kluge but it's still less work than returning it, and it might work.

The lock feels sturdy enough but it's on the small side.The worst thing is that the lock mechanism itself is very poor, it's difficult to turn the key despite being pushed all the way in, as per the instructions. I've tried using WD40 but to no avail.The key repeatedly gets stuck in the lock and feels as if it's going to break. I'm going to throw this useless lock away and buy from another brand. Disappointed as I expected better from Kroptonite.
