not good for crushing pills.
This was purchased to crush my dog's pills, but it isn't usable for that. the outside is smooth porcelain, but the inside is unvarnished (unpainted? i don't know what the term is!) and bumpy. I'd estimate about half of the pill was lost to the rough surface and the bumps, stuck in and only removeable when washed.

Exactly what I wanted. Perfect size, rough bowl interior surface.Perfect for pulverising medications. Easy to hold and use. Washes totally clean. Dropped mine and it broke. So happy to find the same model to replace it!
