Nuvo HHP-2516 Home Water Softener High Performance Cartridge

This water filter has literally changed our lives. Showers are a joy and the amount of shampoo we use has gone down significantly. My dermatologist was suggesting I shower less than every day because, especially in the winter, my skin was dry, flaky and (to be honest) had a film of hard water calcium all over me!! This filter has changed all that. I haven't had to descale the Keurig in 6 months and WAS descaling it every 3 weeks before. The filters are expensive but SO worth the cost in terms of personal care and the plumber says the calcium/lime buildup in the pipes of our house is clearing out over time. The inside of the tankless hot water heater is as clean as a shiny penny. HIGHLY recommend this water system. I had the plumber install it so that there are shut off valves easily accessible, no crawling around and I'd do it again at twice the price.

While I do think it is providing soft water we had one issue and continue to have another.First issue: When I changed the cartridge our shower became covered in white scale. We cleaned the shower and it has not returned. Understand that upon initial installation with the first cartridge this do not happen. It was the first cartridge change when this occurred. I have not changed the cartridge again but will try to remember to report when I do.Second issue: Sometimes the water has an odd odor. It seems more pronounced in hot water.Tech support: While helpful, they did something that concerned me: While trading emails I began to ask more detailed questions about the odor problem etc. At this point they asked me to call to discuss further. While speaking is sometimes better, for some reason I had the impression they didn't want our communications in writing.The unit is nice and compact compared to a traditional water softener and the cartridge change is just like changing a whole-house water filter - easy!Each cartridge has a claimed life of 6 months. I feel this is confusing and misleading as different families use different quantities of water. I would rather pay a little more for the product upfront if it included a meter. The person on the tech help line did specify a gallon amount - would be nice if I could remember what it was!While somewhat concerned I am hopeful this product is the real deal and have purchased 3 cartridges which should allow for about a year of experimentation.

Nuvo H2O filter does not soften your water it treats it as advertised, it definitely keeps the minerals from collecting in your plumbing system . I use this filter in conjunction with a 5 micron Gac filter and a 5 micron sediment filter. It takes about 3-4 months before you start noticing the difference. Note that everyone has water from different sources City, Well etc. and each system is specific so before you purchase get your water tested so you know what your PH level is as well as your alkaline levels are that will let you know if other filters are needed in conjunction with the Nuvo H2O .I’ve been plumbing Contractor for 44 years and I highly recommend these filters.
