A Cat Litter Mat My Cats Actually Use - And it's Aesthetically Pleasing Too!
I really wanted to try this cat litter mat, because the old one we had was useless. It had fibers that stuck up, and was apparently not comfortable for my cats to walk on, because they would actually walk on the moulding on the edge of the closet door in order to avoid walking on their cat litter mat. When I saw the description of the mat, which promised to be soft, I decided to order. I ordered the blue, and was very pleased with the color. It's very close to the color of our bathroom tile, and I had just purchased a new blue litter box, so it all coordinated nicely. Unbelievably, our bathroom rugs also have this pattern, so the cat litter mat is very aesthetically pleasing. The size is good, exactly the width of the floor next to the closet where we keep the litter box, although the box we use is so large, that I needed to pull the rug out to the edge of the wall so that the litter box is not fully on the mat in back, but that was needed in order to give the cats part of the mat to walk on to wipe their paws after using their litter box. It would be nice to have an even longer mat in this width so the area the box sits in could be completely covered, but since the cats don't exit their box out the back, I'm not knocking off a star for this. The cats very obviously approved. Both of them were in the bathroom while I was installing the mat, and both of them immediately checked it out. They use it all the time, and I no longer see them walking on the closet door moulding. It really does what it's supposed to. There is still litter on the floor, but it is much reduced. My housekeeper says the amount of litter in other places of the house is also reduced. I do have a suggestion for the manufacturer, and anyone thinking of buying the blue mat. The color of the large swatch is not accurate. The actual color of the mat is closer to the inset pictures showing the cat. The manufacturer should retake the photo for the swatch. I ordered the blue as an experiment; if the color had been wrong, I would have exchanged it for the gray one. I was very pleased that the color was the lighter blue of the inset photos, and not the dull color of the swatch.

Somehow masks smell? Catches litter.
Ok I made sure to have this a bit before writing a review. So far it’s a 5 star but will update if need be. Enjoy this review...I have two cats, one of them a very big fat one that likes to eat... A LOT... the other regulates his own food intake and is the perfect size, pretty much perfect normal cat. The normal one uses the boxes perfectly, no issues ever, I mean NEVER. The big one is a pain. No health problems (checked that) daily cleaning and the biggest box money can buy... oh and a zillion different letters tried. Doesn’t really matter. He always uses (pee) the very edge of the box if he goes in there at all, and sometimes likes to poop on the tile floor instead. I have seen him sometimes only put one foot in the box and pee inside the edge like a dog might. Again, other cat... new box, new litter, rug, forget a cleaning, doesn’t matter, uses the box normally. So, to try and minimize all this, I got this rug. I have to say, this house, because he would go elsewhere or drip down the side smelled like cat pee A LOT. I can’t stress enough how much I hate that smell. HATE. Well, somehow, this rug doesn’t let that smell happen? He does however, go on it sometimes. I know this because a large cleaning practically kills me. Move the box, clean the whole thing, move the rug into a tub, spray it down, then get all the pee that somehow wound up under the rug. I don’t get it and have tried everything so dunno how to make him stop doing this. It’s like a tornado of pee went into this bathroom. I have to put on some sterile outfit and gloves just to walk in there to clean. That said, just the mere fact I can’t smell that rancid nasty smell in the house is enough to give this five stars. Oh, and.... it catches the litter as well, so no more scraping wet clay bonded to the floor like cement litter off the tile with a napkin and fingernail. That used to be fun.So if anyone knows how or what I might do to get him to cut it out and use the boxes that would be great. Otherwise, order this rug, it’s worth it.

What's in a mat
For the last few years I've been using nothing but this product to wrangle cat litter. I purchased a couple sketchy mats before this one and my cats flat out refused to step on them, which meant litter flying out of the box every time one of them came out. I know, it takes me a while to be properly trained and I thank my 3 cats for having patience with me. Not only are the mats soft, they are large enough to keep 98% of the litter well contained. They are not water proof. I can't stress that enough. I used one in the bathroom last year and had a terrible time peeling it off the tile. It ruined the mat and I moved the box to make sure it didn't happen again. If you splashed some water on it and wiped it off immediately, you'd be fine. One other point--I have a cat who has a problem with constipation and will wipe his butt on the mat instead of asking for toilet paper like any civilized person would do. There is no way I could even attempt to clean it. ( I did try and it was terrible) I wound up pitching it and buying another one. Seems like it isn't cost effective, but he's only done that twice in the last 4 years and if he hadn't, I'd be droning on about how durable they are.
