Batman: The Dark Prince Charming (2017-)

This book is absolutely worth it for the art alone. I kind of wish I got a physical copy instead of the Kindle version, but it truly is astounding to look at. Each panel is painted with an extraordinary amount of detail, and this Batman is very closely based in design to Ben Affleck's suit in Batman vs Superman, which happens to be my personal favorite. He even has a similar jaw and build to Mr. Affleck. The story is well written, and does include a very surprising twist ending that I won't spoil here.But if you're a fan of comic books, of great art, or of Batman, this is a must buy.

If you're not a fan of Marini's, you should be! Another great European artist, he also writes pretty damn good, too. I love the fact that he does everything with the traditional tools and methods, even down to hand painting the colors---no sissy digital stuff here!And the story is very good, too---he has a great take on the Joker, and Killer Croc is totally cool, and the way he does the henchmen is totally in-line with the traditional whacky henchmen of DC villains, but is also believable and scary. A great addition to anyone's collection, and one of the top artists in the world, in my opinion.

This is THE best Batman ever.Marini's artwork - every character - is stunningly awesome. But his storytelling is ten times better than that.Far and away the best dialogue ever written for this character and his friends and foes - Clever. Witty. Brilliant.I thought I might be spending recklessly getting the hardcover - Now I feel guilty for not having paid twice as much.This is what we commonly call "an instant classic". I honestly can't think of any previous Batman graphic novel that comes even remotely close to being THIS good.I want Marini to do every Batman story from now till the end of time.

Gotta say, this book is an absolute looker. Marini's art is absolutely stunning and I honestly think it's some of the best I've seen in DC. However, the story is quite middling, it's not bad by any means but not exceptional either. The art does make up for any narrative shortcomings though which is why I can't be too hard on this book. A decent read overall.

Probably one of the best Batman stand alone comics I’ve read the story is simple but filled with tons of action and the art is gorgeous. Joker reminds me of Mark Hamils joker crazy and wimsical. I would love to see more Batman stand alone stories written and drawn by Enrico

The twist in the end was not what I was expecting. Knowing what I do about the characters this graphic surprised me. And I love the colors surrounding the characters; batman w/sombre and dark, joker and harley w/bright colors.

"The Dark Prince Charming" is one of the best D.C. graphic novels published in years. The artwork is fantastic and it's an instant classic Joker story. Definitely pick this one up if you have empty space on your bookshelf.

The wonderful thing about Batman is his openness to interpretation. I was drawn to this book, interested to see a more European take on the Dark Knight.The result exceeded my expectations. A quick glance at the art displays it's lush quality. Lingering a little longer expert linework and intricately imagined architecture add substance. On top of that we have well choreographed action sequences. The art is faultless.The story, is Batman vs Joker. A scenario played out hundreds if not thousands of times. The fun, is in seeing how Martini makes his own take interesting, and he does a pretty good job. It's a gritty crime noir tale, but Martini takes care to inject some levity into the character interactions.The presentation of the hardcover version containing both issues is fantastic. It has dimensions closer to a European album, thin and tall, and is sewn binding, holding open nicely for an easy reading experience. The book is a little pricey for the low page count, but the quality of the product and it's construction make it worth it. I'm certainly intrigued to check out more of Marino's work.If you like this art style, try checking out Blacksad for more European crime noir with sumptuous artwork.
