USS Poseidon - Phantom Below [DVD]

Okay!

I had no idea of what to expect with this movie other than I had seen a cast listing that included a number of great actors so I figured there must be something good or they would not have signed on. I was correct. This is a great thriller like Top Gun or Red October as most of the action takes place in a submarine or in fighter jets.The unique twist that is revealed in the opening minutes is that the leadership of this submarine is a secret gay couple. They carry out their missions with professionalism and the reality that they are gay is not a major part of the plot line.As the story continues the action and suspense grow up to a final 15 minutes of nail biting to the conclusion.This is a great story.

Did I just pay $4 to see Adrian kiss a dude? Yes. Was I expecting more from this than that? Not really. Did I end up getting sucked into the movie and wanting to watch it to the end? Absolutely. If you're not used to low budget, indie and amateur films then this probably won't appeal to you as much. I genuinely picked it for the aforementioned reason but stayed because something about it held my interest. I tapped right a few times to speed up some scenes but once they were in the sub and the mission was a go so to speak I didn't realize until it was almost over that I was suddenly invested in the movie. Recommend watching at least once. Never knew there was an 'edited' version with the gay relationship cut out and it's very unfortunate that that had to be done for what ever reason.

TIDES OF WAR (Uncut Gay Version!) - USS Poseidon - DVD, this is the best submarine movie since SeaViewor SeaQuest DSV. Very well writtren Screenplay and the Cafirst Officer that dies in the Engineeringst is awsome alot of my fave actors in this one and movie give you the point of view that LGBT Service Men and Women have to hide there sexuallity at the porthole. The Captain has to keep his relationship with First Officer as sercert when dies his lover and best friend and you can tell very hard for him He wants to tell someone that he can move on.He knows there is Dont ask Dont Tell but you can tell on the Captain face he wants to go somehwere and cry his eyies out. I hope this movie comes back on DVD ASAP.2016 Don't ask don't tell is debunk now days but this give you look what LGBT military Personel are thankful that's I could not join the Navy when I gradradted 2000 I could not hide my gay ness.

for low-budget this is a really good war film. sure some of the shots' CGI is basic and obvious but the story carries, suspense builds and you're drawn in. Definitely worth the running time!!!

A previous reviewer objected to (in his words).."...adding gay content to draw a gay audience." In reality, it was the reverse ! This movie was originally made for the gay television network, "here-tv" It was later edited of it's gay content for the general masses. The edited version is sold here at Amazon under the title, "USS Poseidon: Phantom Below.", but not the original gay version titled, "Tides of War" that appeared on here-tv. There is also another movie made by here-tv called "Too Cool For Christmas" with a gay couple. Another version was filmed with an opposite sex couple, and with a different title.This movie starring the Highlander's Adrian Paul may be a bit slow to some reviewers, but part of the story shows the love, respect, regards and devotion between two men (that just happen to be gay). More movies should be as matter-of-fact about this issue since gays and gay couples are a part of everyday life in this world.

Good

I bought the movie beacuse Adrian Paul was in it. Adrian Paul fans will love it. He looked very good in the uniform and he played the role of the Captain very well. I read the other reviews for USS Poseidon-Phantom Below, and I did not know that there was supposed to be any gay element in the movie. That the commander had just lost his best friend in a tragic accident that he felt responsibility for as the captain was the only message that I got. It seems that the movie was edited from the origional,Tides of War. At any rate, the story could have focused more on the phantom submarine that hunted them but overall it was an enjoyable movie and well worth what I paid for it used.

Failed to work, wrong Region

For those looking for the kiss between Adrian Paul's character and his male lover this is not the version for you. They've edited it out along with any reference to his relationship to his partner and fellow officer aboard the sub and just turned it into a friendship.So, if you're looking for a decent war movie with subs and a bit of suspense... than this is an ok movie. But if you were looking for the gay twist... don't waste your time.

This is a good movie involving undersea enemy action.
