Good introduction to our former First Lady for kids
I really enjoyed this Little People Big Dreams book. The book focuses on Michelle's love of learning and passion to study at the best schools, her work with public allies, and her transition to first lady and love of fitness and food. Overall, it highlights some important parts of the First Lady's career and life and I really enjoyed the book. There is a slightly more detailed history and timeline at the back of the book and a couple of other book recommendations for kids who want to read more about Michelle Obama.

An inspiring role-model for children
My dad loved books, I have always loved books and I want to encourage that same joy of reading in my little niece so I’ve been looking for good children’s books to get her started. I have fallen in love with the “Little People BIG DREAMS” book series because not only are they cute but they present a variety of role-models for the next generation including some contemporary names. The Michelle Obama story is no exception. It’s positive presented in a way that’s easily digestible for children. Of course this story is a truncated account of Mrs Obama’s life so it doesn’t go in-depth, it just kind of skips along the surface. Which is fine; it’s a children’s book. I like that in the back of the book there are actually a couple of recommendations for further reading about Michelle Obama. The drawings are cute and the book itself is overall very attractive and nicely bound. It looks great on a shelf by itself or with other books from the series. At the end of the book there is a timeline with photographs of Michelle Obama throughout her life. Each of the “Little People BIG DREAMS” books has a timeline and it’s probably one of my favorite features as I feel like it will help kids make the connection between the person in the story and real life - they aren’t just fiction, these people are real.

Our Favorite First Lady!
I love books and am hoping to pass that down to my kids. I have been reading my whole life - more so than most people or so I am told. I am typically reading 2-3 novels at a time. That being said I am very impressed with Little People, BIG DREAMS!The readability of this book is amazing - I can read this to my five year old and have a slightly decent conversation with my six year old and then in a year or so he will be able to start reading this book on his own.Art - the art is lovely and simple - but keeps your eyes moving to see everythingStory - Well my kids knew her face and he name and they both enjoyed this story about Michelle Obama. Beyond her being the presidents wife AKA First Lady they had no idea she was a lawyer, author and advocate. With all that being said - this is an excellent book! And each and every one of the little people, BIG DREAMS books introduces your children to a different sport, career, art style, a life they could also live!My son who is seven really enjoyed the timeline at the end of the book.

Great bio for little kids. Accessible and inspiring
We love these books. We have, like, 30, maybe. My son is 6, I think we got our first one when he was 3 and we just keep getting more. They are great biographies about a wide variety of notable figures--some famous, some less known. There are politicians, activists, artists, singers, designers, dancers, architects, scientists, athletes. Many are women, or LGBTQ, or BIPOC, or differently abled or some combination of the four. They really show kids about all the different things they can be when they grow up and present the story from the perspective of the subject as a child and then talks about their lives and accomplishments as they grow up.This story is about Michelle Obama. It follows the same structure as all the other books and is just as effective. The illustrations are a little different from the other books we have, but they are still good. It's a great story to inspire little kids to dream big and work hard. It's very accessible to little kids and a great introduction to biographies. We love it.
