Busy Baby: Friends

Modern, eye-catching design with an effective, simple message. (FYI--In addition to being the parent of a toddler, I am also a chiildren's librarian and professional storyteller for ages 0-5 at a preschool and at a large public library.)This is a short board book (10 pages) with a thick cardboard baby face in the middle that swivels easily to reveal a happy or sad expression. Well-made construction and very easy for my 2-year-old to turn the pages and maneuver the moveable face. Short enough for even the most limited attention span and those with longer attention spans love to play with the swivel face and turn the pages back and forth over and over. The scenes in the book depict common social skills that toddlers encounter: meeting new friends, sharing, independence, cleaning up after ourselves, helping a friend, common social greetings.The colors are bold, and the design has a retro modern/mid-century timelessness. The cute animals and simple graphics leap brightly from the page...visually attention-grabbing whether I'm reading it at home with my toddler or to small groups of 0, 1, or 2-year-olds in a storytime or classroom setting. The illustrations also contain basic shapes, colors, animals, and actions that can be located or named by the child and or adult reader to promote vocabulary development and other pre-literacy reading skills.**FYI, I did not receive a discount on this product, nor was my review solicited.

Simple book. Not much for word but my 3 year old loves it! We read it every night!

Great book for working on appropriate emotions and reactions. The spinning head with the two emotions is novel, we don’t have any other books like it.

Great drawings and concept and the baby loves it.

I like the interactive rotating baby face, but the text is lacking in my opinion.
