Christmas present for an 8-year-old, much liked. It's a good starter kit but even better with an extension pack as well to make a really compelling experience. We added the Scalextric C8511 Track Extension Pack 2 which comes with a jump and a straight where the tracks converge on each other for a bit more fun to it. Hours of racing fun, now getting more track and an extra car. One of the cars in the pack did stop working for a while but it started again. Not certain why so getting an extra car so we can continue racing in case of a car issue.

Brought it for the kids but actually brought back great childhood memories. Easy to assemble and a lot quieter than I remember. Fitted nicely in a smallish room and you can build track with multiple designs.

Good pice of kit,grandkids love it only issue I have found is one of the cars seems slightly slower than the other, switched lanes,hand control etc but to no avail

Very good set grandson loved it

I purchased this for my Grandsons this Christmas to replace their Dad’s old Brazil Grand prix track now over 20 years old where on car is broken. The new one clicks together easily but not at all securely enough to keep the electrical circuit constant, as a result it has dead sections of track and does not work consistently . All layouts were tried with various problems and only occasional very brief success , only one allows for the two cars to race over same distance in the same layout and it is the one that has dead areas most often .Such a disappointment for the week they battled with it between Christmas and New Year before accepting the new product is substandard , so sent back and back to using the 20 year old track that fits together more securely and hope to find a second - hand car to replace one that is broken .

Perfect to start up a collection

1st one we received had a faulty controller. Amazon replaced the whole set straight away. Fab service. 2nd one we received worked great for a day then another controller started getting very hot and smoking. Sent back to Amazon and got a full refund. Can't fault Amazon service but either this is a faulty batch or scalextric ain't what it used to be!

Set itself was suitable for my 6 yr old grandson. Unfortunately, one of the 2 cars was defective and its proving tricky to resolve. Not worth sending the whole set back as we have a spare car from an alternative set, but the defective car has to be sent back directly to Scalextric/Hornby which is a faff plus turn round time can be up to 28 days...this was a birthday present so disappointing for my grandson. I would have expected better from Scalextric/Hornby.
