BUY MORE THEN ONE. KEEP A SPARE ON HAND
I installed this part on my 13 year old Concord Model number CCU10A42A-1. My old capacitor was swollen like a beer can ready to explode. For those of you that dont know the top part of the capacitor should be flat. (The part where the terminals are). If its swollen then its not much good. I have read that they last about 60000 hours. About 5 to 7 years. This capacitor is only 2.5 inches in diameter and I wasnt sure if it was the right part or not. The electrical details matched but it sure looked smaller. I researched this and the newer ones are alot smaller then the old ones. Living in Louisiana with 105 degree heat and having the ac unit not running is not the proper time to learn all this! Its best that you keep a spare one on hand and not just order one. My local power company is so crappy that there are brownouts more then 3 per day sometimes. That means the unit is receiving power that is not stable and thats what makes these capacitors burn out. The voltage spikes are bad. For those of you that dont know the capacitor stores energy and it discharges a boost to the motor or fan to get it running. Its important to ground out the terminals with a screwdriver without your hands touching the terminals otherwise you run the risk of getting a shock from either the old one or evan the new one in some cases. By the way when the ac pros have you over a barrel sweating, they charge you over 100 dollars just for this part and then of course the service call which can be 150 or so. I read that the national average cost for this job is 300 dollars. The capacitor is not hard to put in but you have to make sure to have the power turned off. 220 volts is not user friendly. My advice is to take a look at the contactor board. That has points on it and they dont last forever either. My hat is off to the company that sells this part, shipping was very fast. In my case since i didnt know the correct part numbers I had to research and that took a few days. I beleive I added another 20 years to my marriage by fixing the AC!

Failed within a few minutes
This started once then failed, but was not worth the trouble to return. I had a bad compressor fan and replaced it at the same time. Changing the capacitor was a proactive maintenance move because of its low price. After this one failed I put the old one back on and it works fine. I may have gotten a rare bad one, so its worth the risk to try it if you need one. I have had them replaced by A/C service companies in the past and they charged $100+ for the unit and installation not counting days or weeks of wait time for them to get to you if it fails in the summer. Installation was 5-10 minutes with very little effort. Just put the wires on the same connectors they were connected to on the old one. They should be identical if you ordered the right one (remember to cut off the power to the unit before you work on this).

Functional
The 89M77 dual run capacitor replaced a failed capacitor in a Lennox 10ACB42 air conditioner. A non-starting AC system worked fine after replacing the capacitor. Shipping from North America HVAC was quick, ordered on Sunday, shipped on Monday, received Wednesday.
