Lego Vidiyo 43105: Party Llama BeatBox
I think its work pointing out straight away that to get the most out of this set you need a reasonably up to date device that supports the AR software needed. Lego has a dedicated webpage where you can check if your device is compatible or not at LEGO.build/DeviceCheck-BV so it is definitely worth checking there if you wish to use the AR functionality.I suspect because of the AR side of things and some children maybe not having a compatible device that this may make this kind of hit and miss and sadly we don't have a compatible device at home at the moment (planning on an upgrade shortly). However it's worth pointing out too that these sets will appeal to lots of children and AFOL's too for both the pretty cool looking figures, fun storage boxes, coloured dots and also the printed tiles.Despite us not being able to use the AR functionality I have now purchased another 6 of these BeatBoxes (I plan to buy the single smaller sets too) as my Daughter has decided she loves the little 'houses' and the figures themselves and I have therefore managed to quietly squirrel away the printed tiles for my printed tile collection. There will of course be adult minifigure collectors interested in these too.In the interest of science (or rather in the case that my Daughter wanted multiple Mermaid & Unicorn figures), I bought two Mermaid & two Unicorn BeatBoxes and aside from the dedicated specific 2 printed tiles for each figure the other printed tiles included were random in both identical minifigure BeatBoxes. So to collect all 104 printed tiles available you may need to purchase multiple sets or perhaps swap with friends. The Party Llama BeatBox has 82 pieces along with a couple of spare smaller parts and the figure is really nicely detailed. Party Llama comes with his 2 specific special tiles that you can only get with him and another 14 random printed tiles (so the ones you receive may be different to the ones shown in the product photo other than the two specific to him). There is also a brick separator included. The case is easy to build and has a handy carry strap along with a back plate that your child can decorate and inside the booklet there are three building ideas. The rear part has holders for the tiles and the front clear part has an area for the figure to stand with his maracas and roller skates. The idea is to download the app and make music videos but as we haven't got a compatible device at the moment my Daughter has just enjoyed playing with the figures and changing the box designs.A fun series even without the AR aspect but of course this does add more to the play value and what Lego had intended the sets to be used for.

Beware device compatibility list changes
A word of warning. I checked the Lego site for device compatibility for the app before purchasing. In the couple of days it took for the item to be delivered, my device was no longer listed as compatible. Lego did an update to the app, and removed devices that were having issues, so I can't install the app. Fortunately my main reason for purchasing was to get the minifig, but I was looking forward to trying out the videos.

What is it?
It comes in a nice colourful box, but with the app me or my kid arent sure exactly what weve got here!I think if you can spend some time with it and understand it, it can be fun. I see this as more of a thing for lego collectors really.

It's Lego, but not as you know it
The media could not be loaded. This is a new concept and I feel a bit of a risk for Lego to undertake. I was dubious about it but we gave it a go and we are so glad we did. Okay so the build wasn't the most challenging, the piece is relatively boring on its own but combined with the App and the Augmented Reality music videos this is hugely entertaining. It really makes for great lock down family fun.It combines technology with music and physical activity and works well alongside the Lego concept of creativity. Okay so it isn't Lego as we know it but it does just work.My wife and I had the pleasure of building these. Not that challenging but fun none the less. I love how the little tiles can be changed to input different effects in the music videos that you can go on to create. The app works flawlessly. It is easy to use and navigate, and my four and six year old lads have no issues using it.I suspect we will add more to the collection.

Beware - check compatibility
Downloaded the Vidiyo app, had a play and loved the concept so ordered these bandmates but since the app updated I can no longer use it. Followed Lego's advice to re install and found my phone is no longer compatible. Turns out none of our 4 devices, all less than 2 years old, are compatible so we're left with some very expensive minigures. So frustrating and disappointed.

Lovely Lego but disappointing app
Lovely Lego but the app is awful and can only get it to work properly on my husband's phone not mine or daughters so the two kids can't use at the same time. Disappointing
