Spectra Premium ST237 Fuel Tank Straps for Chevrolet/GMC

Didnt have time to grab pictures i was too focused on repairing my truck (2008 Chevy Avalanche). The straps seem short, they are not they just need a little extra motivation. I did this job by myself without dropping the tank. My rear strap rusted and snapped and had to be replaced. The new straps came uncoated and i did a quick rustoleum job on them and got to work. DO NOT USE IMPACT TOOLS! the speed nut has a very thin bracket on the original and replacement set if you buy them, time and rust make that section very weak and you end up with a spinning nut and bolt. If you replace the straps definitely replace the hardware kit. Front nut is a pain to remove but is you snap the bracket and use a magnet it comes right out. Rear nut is accessible through a small "L" bracket on the frame that is most likely filled with dirt. Much easier with the tire off but you only need to do this if the speed nut snaps or seized. 15mm wrench and penetrating fluid and patience are the way to go. Rear nut seized and had to be dremeled/chiseled off. A little anti seize on the speed nut flanges and the tank strap face and some thread locker on the threads and good to go. If you have two jacks use them. One to hold the take with a piece of wood to distribute the pressure and one to hold the strap and push it closer to the mount hole. Open your gas cap to let some of that built up pressure out and the tank will flex better.

Direct replacement, while fuel tank is removed, replace these also.

Those who are knocking these for not having a coating arent taking the value into account, these are considerably cheaper than OEM. I only needed one for now and am keeping the other as a just in case. As for them potentially not fitting, when installing a strap you must really jack up the gas tank and the bolt will barely make it in. Its supposed to be a super snug fit2004 suburban LT

It was pretty simple, just make sure your gas tank is empty and you have a jack to hold the tank high enough up. Simple to install, 2 bolts, and good to go

These fit my 07 suburban perfectly. They dont have the rubber protection that holds the water like the factory straps. They are unpainted so buy a can of tremclad to paint them prior to installIMPORTANT.. GET THE BOLT KIT FROM DORMAN PN Dorman 55157 its 11 versus 48 at the dealer and you will need to replace Spray existing bolts with penetrating fluid such as PB Blaster a day or two before . May helpYou can expect to have a hell of a time as the "f" nut holding the strap up will spin in the frame and obviously a torch would be a bad idea ( if you use a torch be sure to video it and have survivor upload to net for our entertainment. You can finally be famous)I purchased an Astro Pneumatic Tool 930 Mini Reciprocating Air Saw as I had other uses after . Due to cutting angles I ended up chewing up piles of blades to get the front bolt off. Bought extra blades but still had to get hacksaw blades and break them in pieces .

Fit perfectly, but would have been better if they were painted, coated, galvanized, zinc plated, or rust-proofed in any way. Bare metal would not last long, so I coated them myself before installing.
