At first, this camera seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. It took great daylight pictures; night shots weren't bad; but it only worked for about three months. I tried new batteries with no effect. It just quit. I still have the paperwork for it, but not the box, so I can't even determine if there is a warranty. This should have lasted longer.Update: I'll give the seller five stars for sending a replacement camera after the first one quit working. So far it is taking great daylight photos; nighttime photos are grainy but still good enough to identify critters.

Camera quit working within the first week.

I bought this camera about one year ago for trying to detect where deer were coming into my yard. This would be at night. During the summer, no deer, but foxes, skunks, possum, and rabbits galore are are shown. In the fall and colder months, the deer walk down the road, even in the day onto my yard and eat whatever is left. But my yard is enclosed with tall hedges and fencing, and in the early evenings, I get good deer clearly, but never whether they jump over, around or through my defenses. The camera works like a charm to display the deer, not how they get in. That's why I'm buying a second camera, to double the coverage so I don't have to keep moving around. I use the PIR setting for video and the full 12 batteries for longer use. The instructions are not totally correct and setting an accurate year, month, day and time is difficult. If set correctly, you will get date, time and temperature of the detection. I use a 16 gig SD card and use my computer to view the results. Pictures and in color and sharp during the day and black/white and a bit fuzzy at night (but good enough to determine the subject detected). I would recommend this camera.

The manual is not complete and inaccurate. It says turn the cam toggle to "on" but the options are "test, off, and PIR" I I tried all these in order to set the time and date but it's not working. Also no mention of the second battery compartment in the back, what is this for? It it for extra camera life life? Is it for something else that is required for the camera to work? This compartment takes 8 AA batteries.... so 12 batteries are needed? For some reason after following the "instructions" the camera is not taking pictures dispite having plenty of room on the SD card and the camera clearly turning on. I can't seem to find any information on the web about this camera. I am very frustrated. My main issue with this camera is simply that I have questions and can find no place to get the answers.

Not sure what is going on, put 8 AA batteries in the camera, and a few hours later, noticed the battery compartment was hot. Opened it up and the batteries were leaking they got so hot. They were brand new name brand batteries.
