Easy install to replace my BMW e60 2004 525i hood lifts
Quoted $75 apiece for similar struts from BMW dealership x 2 = $150. I am sure they'd install for free (!). Received these in a timely fashion. I was nervous that it would be hard to unclip the bottom end of the old hood struts as it is tough to see down there, but just do this: You see where the clips are that need to be pried out on the ends. Do the top clip first to get a feel with a small flathead screwdriver. Bingo. Easy. Clip popped out. Now just put the screwdriver in a similar position for the lower clip that is hard to see. Pop it a bit with the screwdriver and pling! the lower clip goes flying. Old one is off. Literally 20 seconds. I put a little grease on the inside strut ball hole section, positioned over ball, then pull on, top and bottom. Done. Do the other side. It almost too me longer to type this than it did to install the hood struts! And I saved a drive to dealership and about $130. Oh, be sure to prop up the hood -- I used vice-grips on the "other" old strut I was not working on. Once you install the first side, the hood stays up by itself. Nice and easy DIY!

One of the best purchases I've made in recent memory
The hood struts on my 2010 BMW 535i (E60) were so bad the hood would come down with any moderate wind gust which made working in the engine bay a stressful affair without propping the hood open with a stick. Replacement was easy: You just pry the metal clip open on the old strut heads and disconnect them from the hood.As soon as I installed the first one I could already tell a difference. One strut was more than capable of holding the hood open. Two new struts later and now my hood seems like it's locked in place when fully open and actually takes some force to bring it down. Unlatching the hood and raising it a few inches causes the whole thing to snap fully open with little effort now. AWESOME!

Doesn’t work... A sham of a product.
These hood struts doesn’t work, the online reviews are a sham and it’s too good to be true anyway.. Wrong product description and shipped a defective product. Installed it on my car and I ended up removing it since it won’t lift up.. During the removal process the hood was just barely on my neck... It is one of the most difficult removal I have ever done. Don’t buy this product, you’ll just regret it... and the worse thing about it... The headlight restoration that I’ll be doing will be put off since I can’t lift the hood.

Great Value
The package arrived with two front car hood supports. Each support were in a sealed in its own jacket...very impressing... I opened each jacket and installed them on my wife's BMW. It take about 10 minutes to install. When I pulled down on the car hood it offered resistance and I closed the hood. I then reopened the hood and lifted it upwards and it moved to the open position with little effort. Great value.. I am Hopeful they will provide new like performance for a considerable amount time. :)

Good quality and easy install
Because I have already the make and model of my car saved in my Amazon account it was easy to match the lift required for the hood of my car.The quality seems to be good and the installation was a super easy. The lifts come with a little dab of grease in the socket so you don't even have to put grease before installing.Highly recommend to check some of the YouTube videos about the installation for useful tips. The most useful tip was to use a clamp or clamped pliers to hold one of the old lifts while removing the other one, safety is most important when replacing the lifts. It saves from having to put a piece of wood to hold the hood open.
