My 90yr old mom has been legally blind in one eye for the last 4 yrs, and around 4 wks ago had a major bleed in her good eye from Macular degeneration. Up to that point her doctor was amazed she could still read, where she has cataracts too. She would read her bible a lot and other books. Well 4 wks ago it all changed, she was no longer able to see the pages. I started looking on line for a bible alternative and found this talking bible. Even though she lives in asst. living she called me and with big tears told me she was lonely and couldn't see the TV or read, to pass the time so was very depressed. My heart broke listening to her cry. I had just received the bible and was going to bring it to her after work. I told my mom I'm going to bring you a surprise. She's only 5min away and I hadn't taken my lunch so off it went. When I got to her apartment I handed her the Daily Meditation bible and showed her how to turn it on, by feeling for the button at the top and then just side it one way to turn it on, and then slide it back the other way for off. It took a min but she finally got it in the on position. I had started her in the New Testament. Well...after about a 1/2 a min. I see this big grin come over her face, and she says I remember reading this in my bible. She said this is the best thing since going blind. I love this, it's like a story. ( I bought her the dramatized one) I first bought the non- dramatized one but after thinking about it I thought I think she will like the dramatized one. So I kept the non- dramatized one for me, and I love it too. Yes there are a lot of buttons, but for mom she just needs to know how to turn it on, and it will pick up where she left off, but would be fine with listening to any part of God's word, if she hit a button. She has difficulty hearing too, but said she could understand it, and she liked the main voice and all the other voices. It's only been a few days, but every day she tells me how much she loves her talking bible, and said I don't even care about the TV anymore. For such a small gift it has brought such joy to her heart and for that I am so grateful. I just ordered one for my Aunt who recently had a bone marrow transplant, and is home bound. I think she is going to love it too. God Bless the folks who created this, it is GREAT! Whether you are blind or just want to get more of God's word in your heart. Don't hesitate to buy it.

I bought two players (KJV & NRSV) as Christmas gifts. Both people loved the idea. The players have the entire Bible and the speakers are nice and loud. However, I cannot give a high rating. I wanted to give a "3" but the four major problems warrant no more than a "2". (1) There is no contrast between the numbers/buttons and background, and for the visually impaired, contrast is important. Although I saw this on the website, I thought the size of the players would compensate. However, they are much smaller in person than in the pictures. (2) Although the players are relatively easy to navigate for the good-sighted, they are quite difficult for the visually impaired. Because the manual print is so small, the people for whom I bought the players could not use them to find the number code for specific verses. This makes navigation for much of the player inaccessible. (3) Even though the players have only been used for less than two weeks, the on and off button for one of them has already fallen off. In addition, the player became stuck in the on position. Now, that is poor quality. (4) The seller's customer service is non-existent. The reps do not answer the phone and calls are not returned. My understanding is that the only way to reach the company is via email, which causes another accessibility issue for the visually impaired. I really wanted to like these players and rate them much higher, but the combination of poor quality, inaccessibility and non-existent customer service is just unacceptable. Updated 4/18/17. I have upgraded the rating to 4 for several reasons. (1) The owner of the company has been quite accommodating. I was able to get a new player, which has been working very well. I waited a few weeks to test the new machine before I updated the review - no mechanical problems. (2) Evidently, email is the best form of communication. Once we began communicating via email, customer service response time was excellent. (3) Although the lack of contrast is still an issue for the visually impaired, I fixed the problem by painting the numbers/buttons black. I took the time to do so because my family members really enjoy the player. Since it is no longer being marketed to the visually impaired, I see no reason to hold the lack of contrast against the company.

This little Bible player is well worth the money. It's a forthright and simple, reliable, and intuitive way to add more time in YHWH's Holy WORD into your schedule.I had gotten into the habit of listening to an online Bible streaming program with a pillow speaker about three years ago. Now I cannot rest comfortably without it; it has become a loved and precious habit. I am disabled and there are seasons in which I spend a lot of time sleepless. With a Bible CD running on my TV screen, or with a streaming Bible program on my computer, I have learned to fill up all that down time with simply listening to God's WORD.But over the years I'd encountered many problems: Many times the streaming delivery would be broken or halted by bad weather or computer issues. Other times our internet service would not be working at night. When traveling it was always a question about whether or not the streaming would be available or allowed all night.I spend quite a good deal of time looking for a stand-alone, computer-independent way to listen to the Bible through and through at night, but each "solution" had an equal and opposite problem.I settled upon a CD/MP3 player which could remain on my nightstand and feed to my pillow speaker, but then I came across this Daily Meditation Audio Bible.I made the choice and it has met my needs on every level: Not too expensive. Not too complicated. Reliable. Computer and electricity-independent. I can charge this up and take it anywhere, any time.How did I live without it?
