Excellent
I bought this to electrify my acoustic violin (using the Headway Band as a pick-up and a wireless system connecting the two), after hearing it being used to amplify a mandolin and recorder. The sound is excellent in quality, and as I play in a morris side I need a lot of volume to be heard over the squeeze boxes, which this certainly provides you with! Battery wise, I play out most weekends and use it for two hours a week at practice, and find I need to change the batteries about twice a year. Well worth every penny I paid for it!

Nice Amplifier... Very Overpriced
Roland's acoustic battery operated amplifier is a great little thing. It does what it's supposed to do and does it well. The sound quality is clear and it's easy to use.The reason I'm only giving it two stars is mainly because of the price. This amp should easily be $100 cheaper than it is. I would set the price around $300, personally. Among other questionable qualities is the bass response. This amp begins to vibrate noisily when the volume and bass are set high. Another downside is the cheap plastic housing. The first time I went to change the batteries, I stripped the screw slot (a phillips) with applying very little pressure. That upset me.Overall, Roland has made a decent amplifier for a price range that should be around $300. Unfortunately, they have pushed the price up about $200 more than that simply because this is the only (and best, so far) battery powered acoustic amplifier on the market that sounds good.If there were other amps to choose from that were battery powered and designed specifically for acoustic instruments, and around the same level of watts I'd have gone with another. If the price doesn't bother you, though, go for it!
