Demi is a female wolf who has never been allowed to shift. Her parents were banished from the wolf community and before her first birthday she was bound with magic cuffs to prevent her shifting. She attends a college with other misfits of the magic world and as the only wolf is tormented regularly. On the heels of one such occasion she runs outside to prevent the partial shift that she can manage whilst cuffed, which gets her in trouble, when she runs into a gorgeous male wolf, Sawyer.Invited by Sawyer who is is the wolf Alpha’s son to attend the wolf university and have her education and living costs covered by him and to have her cuffs removed, she jumps at the opportunity. Only once her cuffs are removed, she finds that her wolf isn’t quite as expected.Sawyer invites Demi to attend the university because he has to find a mate before the end of his final year at university and all female wolves between the ages of 18 and 22 have to attend the university in order to see if they could be his mate.There is quite a lot of angst in this book. Demi’s life has not been easy and that has echoes throughout the book. There is a trigger warning at the front of the book, which I recommend you read before decided whether you want to go further.Whilst I really liked both Demi and Sawyer I felt the world building was a bit skimmed over. The main focus of the author is on Demi and her feelings for Sawyer and how to sees his feelings for her as there is a single POV. That focus doesn’t allow the author much space to discuss the society in which they live, which is disappointing. I also wish we got to know the supporting characters a little better. Sage in particular is an intriguing character as Sawyer’s cousin and Demi’s newest friend, and I want to know about her rather than just a foil for the MFC and MMC.There is a major cliffhanger but I believe the next book comes out 26th February 2021, so you won’t have long to wait to read what comes next.

So, I was in a bit of a reading slump, and it was getting near bed time. I hadn't read anything all day due to work and life etc. I thought, Oh, this Leia Stone Wolf Girl book looks decent; I'm in the mood for PNR M/F with shifters, an academy (initially) setting , and other magical races. Little did I know, I finished this and book 2 at 4am! It was the best lack of sleep I've ever had! Leia Stone left me utterly satisfied and gagging for more.Demi is all alone, cut off from her pack and unable to shift, with only her parents to guide her in what a wolf should be. You can feel the frustration and anger coming off the pages! Then, BAM, Sawyer enters the picture and everything takes on an intense and somewhat suspiciously upbeat note. Suspicious because I was always waiting for the catch, of which, yup, there are many! Just when you think everything is fine....that's when Leia decided to mess things up! The heart-wrenching twist at the end is almost expected, but it's so well written that you are still taken by surprise.I love Eugene, Sage, and even Walsh! Sawyer is such a possessive Alpha male character but in such a modern and enlightened way. There is, of course, other woman/women drama, but in a tasteful way. This book is full of humour and though there are a lot of funny and self-deprecating FMCs around at the moment, I found Demi to be one of the most natural and such a pleasure to read! There are also intriguing hints throughout about her heritage and the other races and their involvement in her past. With so many parties involved and so much history to be revealed, this book could have had information dumps and been too slow paced; however, it is very well written and all the moving parts meet up as and when feels most organic. I could not wait for book two and started at 2 a.m. Whenever, wherever, and however you read it, I don't think if PNR/shifters/mates/angst/traumatic pasts are your thing that you will regret picking this up at all!

I like the fact that this book has a strong story line ,less swearing and is not just about sex

Omg this book is absolutely amazing. It had me hooked from the start so much so that I have none stop read until the end. Now I’m just about to download the second one. Amazing x

This is the first book I have read of Leia stone and it didn't disappoint! It was unique and full of action but what a cliff hanger!! I can't wait to start book 2!

This is the first book in the Wolf Girl Series and I loved it. It's my first time reading anything by Leia Stone but it definitely won't be the last. What an ending too. Just when you think it's all a done deal with a fairy tale ending, everything implodes.The worldbuilding is good. The storytelling is good and improved as the story went along. I liked the changes to the usual tropes and the addition of new ideas and magic which I've not come across before.There is a trigger warning on this book as one of the characters has memories of a rape in her teens but it is discussed rather than described and is crucial to the story.I've already bought book two and will be looking at the rest of this author's previous work.

Wolf Girl by Leia Stone a five-star read that will bring you to the fight. This is number one in the Wolf Girl series, and my goodness it broke my heart, I am so desperate to sink my teeth into number two and will as soon as I am able, but my goodness I wish I didn’t have a reading list to get through before I can!! I need the rest now, I wonder if I can pull a sickie… Demi is sublime and her strength just shines through, her story is one I am so excited to hear more about, and I need to know what will happen next, as I need to get my slapping gloves out I think for a certain someone.
