The Helipad 2 Pilot Kneeboard is an iPad kneeboard that combines the features a standard kneeboard with the convenience of a modular iPad kneeboard. Simply put, it makes instrument flying EASY. The Helipad 2 kneeboard can be quickly configured allowing the pilot to use an iPad or refer to hard copy approach plates and checklists. When the iPad is not in use, it's simply positioned under the Clipboard Panel and while using an iPad, the Clipboard Panel can be positioned under the iPad Panel. The kneeboard contents are secured in both scenarios and not left hanging open across the pilot’s legs as with other kneeboards. The Helipad 2 Kneeboard also comes with an adjustable leg strap with side locking buckle.

Best I've ever used!
Best kneeboard I've ever seen, certainly the best I've ever used. Near perfect design and amazingly well built.-I'm currently flying R22s and Guimbal G2s; while the kneeboard with an iPad Mini on top is big, I have no issues with it getting in the way (left leg works for me as I'm left handed, and it leaves my right thigh free to ground/steady my cyclic hand). The pen holder velcro loops on the left outside pocket took a minute to figure out how to orient it as I kept getting the pen caught on my hand or sleeve and pulling it out of the loop. Once I placed it so the pen faces diagonally down and away from me I haven't had the issue. Used the Helipad throughout my instrument training in the G2 and was thankful for it each flight. Now back to the R22 for the commercial, still never consider leaving my kneeboard behind.- I have the elastic corner bands to hold my iPad Mini - I specifically chose that option b/c I wanted to be able to keep my Khomo "Super Slim Cover" on it. The cover folds to the back and I slip the bands around the corners - works great! That said, I am considering ordering the velcro back because with ForeFlight, I find the bands get in the way of some of the screen and I often need to move them out of the way to see or touch something (most often it's the center position button in the top right).- The design for lifting and switching from iPad to clip board is great. I don't find it difficult to use, even one handed. It's not quick, one handed, but how often do you need to write stuff down? Use the ForeFlight scratch pad. You'll figure out the best way to use it for you - the important part is you have options.- The side pockets are useful, I keep 4 - AA batteries in the small one and a flashlight, pen, and keychain multitool in the other. I can actually fit my iPhone SE in the bigger pocket (even with a slim case on it); it's a tight fit but it absolutely fits.*I purchased direct from Helipad. Yes, this kneeboard is expensive, but so worth it. If it gets stolen or lost, I will absolutely buy another!
