mounting this tire is very easy. much easier then what i was used to ...
where i live, there is not a bike shop, and had to resort to buying bike tires from one of the large chain stores. none of these tires ever lasted more then 400-500 miles and then i would buy new ones. after reading a number of reviews, here and other places, i settled on the black jack tire. the original tire size on my bike was 26x1.95, and the black jack i ordered was 29x1.90. i did not want to deal with rubbing on the tire forks if i went with a wider tire. there are a few things you should know about this tire before you order them, based on what i have seen so far.first, they are directional, so take care when you mount them so they are right, BUT, mounting this tire is very easy. much easier then what i was used to out of any bike tire i have ever mounted. This tire grips the road whether turning, or going flat out, and rolls very easy compared to what i was used to, but i must admit, they do make a little more road noise then what i am used to at speeds over 20MPH. it isnt obnoxious, but you can hear it. will they last as long as some others have said? i dont know. but after 450 miles of riding, they show ZERO wear so i know they will hit at least 2000 miles for sure, except for something major happening. they roll right over rocks and even the broken glass one morning with ease, so i am sure they will last a while. one thing not in any picture is the fact that the schwalbe name is on the side of the tire in white letters, but i like it, this is just more of a heads up then anythings else.schwalbe is the only bike tire i will ever buy again for me or my wifes bike. i might not always order this tread, but i will only get a schwalbe

Great tires for the price and expected use
Great tires for the price and expected use. These tires have very tight center treads and if your riding on the street all you need to do is inflate your tires a little firmer and they ride on the tread and are fast. If your going on the trails just deflate a bit and get bite from the side knobs. Perfect tire for a recreational mountain bike that is used on pavement and packed trails and even some loose stuff. The rubber is a bit hard so if you try riding slippery rocks and roots or wet stuff you need to pony up for better tires.

Good All-around Tires
These are very good tires for many types of terrains and riding conditions. They're light, 1.33 and 1.40 pounds for the ones I got. They roll fast with very low resistance; smooth and plush on streets with no discernable noise for knobby tires. They have enough bites and grab on hard packed trails. These tires, however, are not made for aggressive trail riding and the front tire has a tendency to initiate sliding when corner hard. Also, they're not as wide as typical 1.9 knobby tires, measuring at only 1.6 in width. I use them for streets, touring and fire-road trails and they're almost perfect. Despite being wire bead, installation was easy and quick without the need for tools. The packaging, though, left much to be desired. The two tires were wrapped in a layer of thin clear plastic for delivery with absolutely no protection. That made me hesitant to order additional products from this seller.

Perfect upgrade
The SCHWALBE Black Jack Tire is fantastic on my kid’s 24” mountain bike! It grips well on trails, giving great stability and confidence for young riders on rougher terrain. The tire handles both dirt and gravel with ease, and it’s been super durable so far. Perfect upgrade for any kids’ mountain bike—highly recommend!

Great tire, but far narrower than the specs
Tire is very good, but wish it were wider. Measured the 24”x1.9” with a calipers and it was 1.65” at the widest. The casing was 1.57”. Definitely should have bought the 2.1” tire knowing this. :(

Best All-Surface 24" MTB Tire for the Money
Let’s face it, options are slim in 24” & prices don’t get cheaper. Background: Bike nut w/ 3 kids, ridin’ since ‘69 on a budget—who isn’t? Needed wider, aggressive, deeper tread than OEM Specialized Fast Trak 24”x1.80” tires on kid’s 13.5” Hotrock. The Black Jacks have a a center tread for pavement to hard pack, surrounded by heavily siped deep knobbies for sandy, loamy, loose rock. The sidewalls are reminiscent of old school balloon beach cruiser tires. These certainly improve the bikes comfort, handling & flickability. These Black Jacks meet my expectations of design & economy. Bike shops either had NO stock or 1 option in 24”. I tried going LOCAL! Almost bought Bontrager Connection Trail 2.0”, but they seem for paved to light trail. Bontrager XR1’s are $10 more & no better IMO.Why I buy Schwalbe Black Jacks from Bikewagon: Best price, packed RIGHT, boxed not folded. These are beaded tires--not folded. Beaded tires are best. Folder’s one advantage is when you need to pack a spare on a long trek. Durability opinion will post later.Comparative SPECS:Specialized Fast Trak 1.80” Actual width: 1 11/16”@38psi (too thin for technical surfaces)Schwalbe Black Jack 2.1” Actual width: 2”@38psi (just right for this bike)Black Jacks: give you aprox 5/8” more patch on the ground!Specialized Fast Trak height: 23 5/8”, weight: 1.054lb(worn out)Schwalbe Black Jack height: 24 3/4”, weight: 1.592Black Jacks are: 1 1/8” taller sidewall!!Most important, looks—My mild 12y/o daughter said, “They look soo much better than the old ones.”

Side wall sucks. Side wall blow out in 2 months. POS
I ride in AZ. So am hoping kevlar will help resist punctures from rocks and thorns. Or at least rocks. Works well so far. Side wall was thin so kept wanting to pop off rim so took a few inflation deflation cycles of tube to center it up and hold rim. Worried about side wall punctures. Update.... side wall blow out. POS.
