Heart Stopper: An Enemies-to-Lovers College Sports Romance (Rebels of Rushmore, Book 1)

Needs work
It's written like someone telling you a second-hand story. No details or development, just someone narrating the absolute minimum necessary in order to get to the punchline. You get a bite-sized chunk of interaction before the author fast-forwards in time, provides a summary of what happened during that time, and follows it up with another nibble of actual content. Rinse and repeat. The characters are absolute unfeeling cardboard cut outs. Their emotional range is limited to "slightly annoyed" and "weirdly turned on." Otherwise, things just... happen. For example, the MFC's apartment (conveniently) has a fire. Does she care to know why? Nope. Is she upset about it? Not at all. Does she have any opinion about the situation at all? Pretty much no.

Love comes when you least expect it.
Arrogant, late for their interview stupid jock. Only problem is he is hot, but then he opens his mouth. They embark on an epic war of mean pranks. When she needs a place to stay, who steps up?

Couldn't put it down!
I started reading this book and could not stop! I love Charlie's character- all her "nerdiness" and heart of gold! I especially love how loyal she is. And I love how much Troy values her brain and protectiveness. Such a great love story that had me feeling all their emotions!

Lacking......
I wanted to like this book, I really did. Which is why I went ahead and bought the full version even though the sample didn't quite pique my interest. In the end, I found myself skimming through a majority of it just to be done with it. First, this book is lacking depth. There's emotions in the words, but with the way this story is written, almost like you're reading someone's diary, and they briefly jotted down their day, it's hard to feel or connect to those emotions. Second, it lacks descriptive text. You find out all about what the characters are wearing, but you don't find out till your over halfway through the book Charlie has dark hair. Why? Third, as someone who is around college age kids often, no one talks the way these characters converse. No one. Fourth, I found all the characters to be very immature for their age which goes completely against the dialogue. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. I honestly hate giving bad reviews, but this book was just a total train wreck.

Great FMS, MMC, sweet and sexy
KU subscriptionTroy, a college jock, and Charlie, a LARPing nerd, Clash at the beginning of their story. They end up rooming with one another and quickly let bygones be bygones, more quickly than I expected for an enemies to lovers romance. It’s a pretty good story, with the requisite ups and downs, but what really makes it work between those hills and valleys is the characters’ humor and genuine affection for one another. The sex scenes are great also.I liked both characters, but I absolutely loved Charlie. She has a strong back bone, a fiery temper, no false modesty, and she’s fiercely protective of the people she loves. No doormat here.It left a couple of things hanging, like how they were going to negotiate something painful that happened to people they love. Maybe that will be revealed more in the next book.Fans of the TV show Supernatural should get a kick out of the FMC‘s name, Charlie, especially given she loves to LARP and Troy gets her to watch the series. A scene very close to the end is very cute as it calls to mind one of the characters in the show and his control of the music in his car.I thought this was a good relationship book for people who like college romance books. The author has a bunch of other books in the paranormal genre, and I might try some of those too since she’s a pretty good writer. No glaring errors.

Good read
My first read of this author. I needed a book to pull me from my rut, nothing was grabbing my attention. I saw the words ‘Troy Alexander sex on a stick’ while scrolling through FB, ok you have my attention. I downloaded an sample and the first chapter was explosive. This is a opposite attract, enemies to lover, the nerd and the jock read.Troy is the QB so he’s a big deal. Charlie is the reporter who’s interviewing him. Their first meeting left then both disappointed, he was late which she considered rude and disrespectful therefore was a little harsh in her questioning. He was offended and stop the interview and walked out. So them ending up as room mates is unexpected and makes this read interesting. What I love about this story is he’s not a man whore and she’s not a push over. They actually give as good as they get. I enjoyed this first read of this author and looking forward to the best book.

Troy is a God but Charlie sees the real man inside
Charlie believes Troy is a adrenaline junky jock who is only interested in his next fix and girls. When she has to interview him she asks why he doesn't care about his game anymore but she couldn't be more wrong.Troy might be sex on a stick but he is haunted and broken. The man he is underneath the jock persona is so loving he shreds her defences. The chicken prank is epic and its the beginning of the end of their pranks, well minus the whipped crean incident. That however leads to their first kiss.Charlie is a self professed need who lives in her own fantasy world and has somewhat detached herself from her peers other then a select group of friends. She struggles with her feelings for Troy and her ability to trust him for so long and it brings them nothing but pain. This book is epic, it brought tears of laughter and sadness but it all comes together in then end. Yet another brilliant love story by Michelle

I love Charlie and Troy’s story. There are so many reasons that they shouldn’t be together, the question is do they overcome them. They are fab characters and I love the pranks they play on each other.Lighthearted with a good mix of emotional scenes, funny in places.
