Really good knife at C$55
No question the $230 knife my ex wisely took was better. However, with the $25 coupon this was a $55 purchase and good value for money. This is a sharp knife that feels and works well. The Damascus steel claim is ridiculous and false. The layering is a fake decoration, the steal has not been folded and hammered multiple times like real Damascus steel.I would buy again under $75. Made in China.

Sharpest knife I have ever had. Cut my hand for the first time ever as well.
Sharpest knife I have ever used. Feels heavy, doesn't look like a very sharp knife, however, cut my palm when I was washing it ready to test it.Cut paper very smoothly than all other Zwilling knife I have. Will buy a santoku from them now.

Sharpens up well and looks really nice... from a distance.
The knife looks great, large size, and obviously heavier than most knives. Comes in a black gift box that holds the knife firmly in place. There is no outer packaging to the gift box as such the bottom corner on mine was a little banged up, probably from shipping. Also the magnetic closure was starting to separate. A little glue or tape and it still would look presentable enough to give as a gift. The Damascus design on the blade looks good, not too subtle yet not too bold either. Blade was straight and sharp, appeared defect free. Handle looks nice but the rivets were not smooth with the handle, they stuck out almost a millimetre. Didn’t make it uncomfortable to use but was noticeable and slightly sharp on the rivet edges. Contacted the seller about it and was told that happens because it’s cold out, once the weather warms up they should be smooth. I don’t actually believe that and I have several pakkawood handled knives that have a always been a buttery smooth finish. But I like the shape and look of the knife and there was a coupon available when I bought it making the price cheap enough so I decided not to return it.Tested it out making scalloped potatoes. Potatoes always stick to my usual chef knife and work their way up and over the blade falling into my cutting path. Was hoping that with the height on this knife that may not be a problem and it did actually help. Also, using the end of the knife like a spatula was kind of cool too, one less thing to wash! The blade was extremely sharp as expected but strangely had about an inch long part in the middle that was dull. Weird. Got out my sharpening stones and the knife cut like a charm. I could get the edge noticeably sharper than my Henkel knives (German steel). Before I even bought this I doubted they used authentic Japanese VG10 steel. I’ve seen numerous knives on Aliexpress using a Chinese steel typically called 10Cr15CoMoV (sometimes abbreviated 10CR) which manufactures claim is just as good and that’s probably what this knife is but surprisingly it started loosing it’s edge after slicing up only a half dozen potatoes. I have a small collection of knives, some pictured below, and among them are a few Japanese made knives using VG10 steel and they keep an edge for an insanely long time. Sharpness wise it did rival my Japanese made knives but edge retention was on par with my made in China Dalstrong Gladiator "high carbon steel" fillet knife, which I love due to the shape and flex of it but I have to hone the blade every time I use it.I’m sure I will have fun using this knife in the future but if you aren’t going for looks then a good German steel (1.4116 steel) cleaver will probably serve you just as well and cost less.
