In Pocket Odyssey players assume the roles of legendary heroes embarking on epic quests, defeating monsters, finding loot and pretty much anything the players mind can imagine. One of the players is chosen at the beginning of the game to be “the storyteller”, they use innovative quest building cards to help them create a quest for the other players on the fly. Each of the other players assume the role of a single hero, they get to create who that hero is and then how that hero interacts in the storytellers world.

Quick RP and battles
This is a great way to get in some quick RP and questing. No need to learn a ton of lore. In fact the more you play, the more you create the lore. There were a few kinks in playing our first game and there are a couple things I'm still not quite sure if we're doing right or not, but we have fun. While the directions do a pretty good job you'll probably need someone at least a little familiar with the process, so I'd recommend it if you have some experience with RPGs. Great game. Good fun.

An amazing introduction to roleplaying
I love this game.1 player is the game master and the other 1-3 players create characters. Game setup takes just minutes and it's completely open ended like you would expect from most "big boy" rpg platforms, like dnd and pathfinder. That being said this isn't meant for people who are completely used to bigger systems. You might feel smothered by the limited framework. That being said there's enough of the classic rpg style for someone familiar with larger systems to buy it, very quickly learn it, and then use it to introduce new players to the world

The underlying game system is very easy to learn and intuitive
What we have here is a delightful, simplified and portable version of Dungeons and Dragons. The underlying game system is very easy to learn and intuitive. Great to introduce to people who have never role played before! The included maps are wonderful (and double sided) and diverse. One slight flaw (as another reviewer pointed out) is that the game supports one gamemaster and only 3 players. In the end, this is a great light game. Don't expect hours and hours of a dungeon crawl or tons of rules. But when you need a quick rpg session while on the road, in an airport or at a con, Pocket Odyssey is great and takes up very little space in your gamer bag!

This game is so fun, the students go their imaginations going
I work at an elementary school. This game is so fun, the students go their imaginations going. They actually fought over who got to play. It is literally a 60-90 minute DND

Definitely worth the price for HOURS of enjoyment!
This is one of those games that comes around once in a while that makes you think... 'WHY didn't I think of that!'You start off with 2 or more people. One person becomes the Story Teller, and the other is the Player. The ST draws random events to use throughout the session, and the Player makes their character. The ST then starts to weave a story using the event cards drawn, and decides upon the location that the session will take place. Once the map is determined, the session begins in earnest with the ST placing the Player's character at the location it will start in the map and going from there. Monsters are introduced as the ST determines them to, and the fight and story unfolds from there! At the end of it all you have about an hour and a half, plus or minus a random amount of time depending upon the number of players and hilarity of the session, of fun and fellowship. You can then rinse and repeat with a completely different scenario and character altogether! While the character does not *need* to be used for multiple sessions, it is certainly possible which allows a longer campaign style story to unfold. The box set comes with everything you need for a fun Rogue-like experience without the need to be on a computer or other electronic device. It also allows creativity to blossom, and is a very nice introduction into Pen-and-Paper RPGs without having to buy a lot of source material before you can even play. Here is a link to the story that unfolded when my two daughters played a session with me: Amazon does not like external links :/Goto boardgamegeeks dot com and add thread/1495499/sorcerer-and-his-bodyguards to the end :D

A Rollicking Good Time!
Pocket Odyssey is a great party game for people who are into pen and paper RPGs, with a fun dash of improv. The game is really accessible toanyone, with no lengthy start ups or preparations needed to create your character and start your quest! (You can absolutely do that as well though!)For me, the funnest part was the scope of the game. You can do almost anything because of the way it's designed, so if you want to embark on an old school quest D&D style, you are more than able to. Or if you want to mix it up with a zany adventure where your barbarian is swinging a bar maid around as their weapon, you can do that too! You have an astounding amount of creative freedom in the way you play. This is definitely a great game to play with friends, and I couldn't recommend it to anyone more.

Hands down best value!
I was part of the Kickstarter campaign and just bought 4 for gifts. I can't think of any game that compares in terms of value. In terms of artwork, replay-ability, compact size (for my game shelf and travel) this is the best. Unbelievable value! What else can you buy at this price. Can't wait to give these out... I'll likely have to buy more.
