Teacher Created ResourcesDaily Warm-Ups: Reading Book, Grade 6

This product has engaging, short passages that are appropriate for 6th grade. My problem is that so far, I have used 4 different pages with my classes and in at least 2 of them, there are grammatical errors (missing words from the passages) or answer choices out of order. Page 143, paragraph 3 says "Chad strained his eyes get a good look at his surroundings". It''s missing the word 2. This could have been found with a decent spell check. Additionally, I do not think that it uses "main idea" correctly in many of the questions and instead it should be what was the author's purpose for including that paragraph. When it asks for main idea, the answer choices are choices like "to introduce the conflict in the story." At least in our common core aligned school, those answer choices are more appropriate as author's purpose or text structure.

I love this! I use the passages everyday for Do Now activities. It is a great way to have students practice annotating, looking for evidence and answering standard based questions. As a teacher, I can quickly see and gage where my kids are at. Great addition to any classroom!

This is a great book to use. I actually use it as homework for my students. Each reading passage is short and only has 3 questions so it takes less than 10 minutes. I also love that there are leveled passages! I have found a few typos, but nothing that made finding the answers difficult.
