The Pack: Pack Series, Book 1

An okay read
The Pack vaguely reminded me of Claire Ferrell's Cursed series or the Morse sisters' Howl series with a little Twilight thrown in. New girl at school, Jess, watches the mysterious group of students across the lunchroom. There is quite a bit going on in this book...rocky parental relationships, from riches to rags, a teacher-student romance, another teacher's blatant jealousy, and two packs fighting. Those are just the highlights. And yet, I wasn't as invested in the story as I felt I should have been. I know it's fiction but we are supposed to believe whatever is going on within the world or parameters the author creates. It was difficult when everything is mostly resolved behind the scenes or actions make no sense.A teacher whom refuses to date carelessly and somewhat aggressively pursues a student and no one says anything to him? How did they find out the other teacher planted the knife? A sheriff acts like this one and they let him walk off with the Jess? The father, out of the blue grows a back bone? The mother shows up which makes no sense. Jess stays with a friend her dad never met, doesn't even talk to his daughter, but it's okay to stay out all night? There's so much more, including good editing needed. This book could have been better if the characters, their actions and the plot had been fully developed.

I really do hope you do turn this into a series please. The book was amazing😊 but i hope the others will be adult books. i really do think it be really good with some steam😉 and love to have Dom pov in it.I also hope its about Jess and Dom i feel like there story it not finished!!!! Before you go to different people. Like to read them go all the way though with the mating!!!If you like emotional, love, lost, violence, action, jealousy, little drama, great storyline. I little heat 😉 then stop what you are doing and read this book.

Ehhhhh ......ok
It was an ok read. I really wanted to like this book. It started off keeping me intrigued at first but then it went ehhhhh...The main character reactions were not believable and at times I found myself a little confused on who was talking. I didn't feel any chemistry with Dom and Jess. I finished the book but I honestly don't think I'll be continuing the series.

Really loved it
I have to be honest and say my first impressions were mixed. The setting was familiar and then the teacher/student relationship, and it was obvious there would be one, worried me given this is a YA. Some editing issues also but despite this it had a smooth pace and the characters were likeable, especially Jess and her protector wolf so I persevered and it was worth it.The chemistry was strong but the sexy element had respect for age of the characters, and their positions in life. One critic did comment on the cover. I agree that it may be misleading but then shifters are constantly naked because of the nature of the shift so I decided at the end that this was lovely read and that this was enough. It is a series but it doesn’t leave you hanging and I am sure the other books will be just as enjoyable.

4.5 Stars!!!!! awesome gem!!!!
Totally recommend this book!!!! Eeekkkkssss!!!! Lol It’s like a cousin of Twilight!!!!! Shapeshifters woot woot!! Can I just say I want to find my own Dominic 🤪🤣😍 Has some pulse racing moment without being risqué!!! Be considered a New Adult/Young Adult genre! Loved the writing— immediately captured my attention & escaped into this world! Mark of a great book/author when it pulls you in right from the beginning true escapism!!!! So many great characters the chemistry between our leading duo is off the charts!!!! The dialogue/suspense—can tell it’s just the first book in series it sets up the overall arch! Definitely be reading more in this series & from the author!! Would recommend this novel!!!!

A shifty read!
With nowhere else to turn, she must rely on the Pack to protect her, but in doing so, she becomes caught up in a brewing war over territory and power...One that may cost her everything...When I started reading this book, I did not realise I had wanted a book like this before! With a student/teacher angle and shifters!Amazing story and characters. God, I'm so glad that this was not a standalone novel and the author turned it into a series.Full of packs, shifters, mates, breeding females, secrets, family, friends and romance.Perfect for readers of paranormal romances.

Couldn't put this one down
This story hooked me and kept me reading until it ended. There is that flutter chemistry with a slight taboo that keeps things edgy while danger & suspense kept the adrenaline & story flowing. This story has material that is better suited to mature young adults. There is violence, sexual inuendo, non-con issues discussed, under/over 18 age & job position situation complications, family issues, some laugh out loud moments, pitter patter moments.... Fans of Vampire Diaries, Twilight, Teen Wolf would likely enjoy the chemistry fix this quick & entertaining read provides.

Moving into pack territory...
The first of three books, but it doesn't end on a cliffhanger.. you just get the sense that it's HFN not HEA. You can stop here, but I think you'll want to continue. This is told solely from the heroine's perspective, although book 4 is this same story from the hero's POV. Caught in a battle between a cold mother, and a loving father, Jess moves in with her father and smack into the middle of a brewing shifter war. There is a bit of an age-gap between Jess and her teacher/beau, although nothing truly inappropriate happens in this book.

Enjoyable
When Jess moves across the country to be with her dad, she doesn’t realise that she’ll be risking her life and possibly her sanity. Luckily for her, the ‘Pack’ will be there to help her, whether she wants it or not.I’m always happy when I’m pleasantly surprised by a book and that was the case with ‘the Pack’. It’s my first time reading this author, so I was happy to see that the book was fairly well written with only a few minor wording issues. The plot was good and fairly well paced, though I did find the beginning a little slow going. So if you look at the sample and think the same thing, it’s well worth purchasing and persevering. The main issue I had with this book – and it’s really not that big of a deal – is that I was expecting it to be a standalone story and it isn’t. ‘the Pack’ is the first book of a yet unnamed series. While it doesn’t end on a cliff-hanger, there are issues that are unresolved at this stage of the plot. Really, it’s not a problem since I enjoyed the storyline and would love to see more of Jess, Dom and the pack; it just a little irksome when you’re expecting everything to be wrapped up. Now I’ve got that off my chest, let me tell you why I enjoyed the story so much. I liked that the shifter lore is a little different. I still have a few questions about the exact nature of mates and mating but I’m hoping we’ll learn more about that in book two. The characters are interesting and Jess is feisty; which is something I like my heroines to be. She’s not overly cocky and unlike some feisty, yet brainless females, she understands when she’s in over her head and needs to ask for help. The only trait she has that I found annoying was her ability to ‘stick her head in the sand’. At the start she’s happy to ignore the secret the ‘Pack’ are hiding, she ignores the signs and even after she sees the truth to herself she still tries to ignore. That’s not to say she doesn’t know what happened and believe what she saw, it’s more that she doesn’t want to deal with and accept it. In some ways it’s realistic but that doesn’t make it any less annoying; but then every character needs a flaw or two, it’s what makes them interesting. Dom on the other hand is annoying at the start, like most alpha males and becomes more endearing as we get to know and understand him better. I’m not going to say it’s a truly original story, but it’s a really good read with some interesting twists on the general shifter stories.Cautionary element(s): This story touches on the issues of kidnapping and rape.
