TCG: Pokemon Battle Academy

Loved the step-by-step instructions. Made learning the game a lot easier especially for younger players. Once the basics are learned other cards can be added making the experience unique to all players.

Got this for my kids to play, 7y and 10y. Not “up to speed” on games these days, I thought it was a board game like clue. It’s more complicated and even with the instructions hard to grasp quickly. The players need to know what “Pokémon” is about and familiar with the concepts before playing. This is not for first time players who have watched three or four of the cartoons. The cards are not like “trading cards” so much, more like dungeons and dragons. It’s well made and packaged, shipped quickly. Had I known what I do now I would have bought trading cards for them to collect instead

My grandson, 6 years old wanted to play Pokémon. I had no idea how to . He had some cards, but we didn’t know what to do with them. We watched a few videos that showed playing the game, so I decided to buy the game in hope that we could learn how to play. We played for hours. It’s the beginner version of the game, but until he’s older, it’s perfect. Once we play the easier version, then we can start adding more additions to it.

This 2 player starter set comes with two specific decks that are numbered so that you can put them back in their default order if you want, each with their own booklet that takes you turn by turn through all the steps of the game. It runs through several scripted turns which cover all main scenarios that you will encounter, and then leaves the rest of the game open for players to finish unscripted while still following the easy to understand outline provided. Once comfortable with the flow and rules of the game, players can shuffle their decks or even add cards to them and continue their Pokemon journey!

Having grown up in a different country where we did not have Pokemon during our childhood, i got exposed to this world through my son who is now in primary school.The set has 3 fairly basic decks which are excellent for those who are trying to understand the game. The board helps you learn where to place, what.For those who already have TCG cards or know the game, this will be a redundant set but for those who are starting new, it is an excellent value for money and starting point. Highly recommended!

My kids love messing around with the cards but trying to teach them to play with the instructions was a headache. I felt like I was reading a foreign language. They just took to playing their own version. The rules are so confusing. I'm definitely no Pokémon professional which is what I feel like you need to be to play this.

Had a great time with this and my kid. Super easy for both of us to learn. The instructions are clear, and walk you through a full battle step by step. After that, it’s easy as pie and crazy fun. No two battles are the same. And if your kid collects Pokémon cards, they can build their own unique deck using the game decks as examples (# of Pokémon, Support, Energy cards, etc). It really is a great game and we’ll put together. Highly recommend!

Great gift for kids who love Pokemon! My son was thrilled to get this & it helps explain to us adults, how to actually "play" Pokemon.
