Average Results... Best Suited To Large Gardens With No Close Neighbours Due To The Sound
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I got this to try and scare of some grey squirrels that have decided my lawn is something to dig holes in.The included instructions are in broken English and not the best. It's is an all plastic build including the poles for sticking it in the ground, (not aluminium poles as the instructions suggest), but everything feels durable enough for the British climate. I think it looks pretty great, like a bird of prey's head maybe.Make sure to peel off the solar panel stickers, insert the pole to the base and put in sun for at least 12 hours before switching on for the first time. There are no indicators to tell you you have power, the charging state or what mode you have it set to, which I think is a shame and makes operation a bit of a guessing game. Both the Power button and the DC power port cover are weather protected by silicone which is good but the DC power port cover can be a bit fiddly to put back in place so you need to make sure otherwise it won't be water protected.Once it was charged, I switched it on and sure enough, any movement in front of the sensor triggers the flashing lights and a very high pitch sound that is audible to the human ear. I've included a video of it in action during daylight and at night and you can hear it through my phone's microphone. It is not pleasant to hear so hopefully would be worse for the squirrels!I wouldn't want to sit in my garden with this going off every time someone moved as the noise is unpleasant, so I think this is recommended for very large gardens. It also picks up the slightest movement so the wind rustling the leaves will trigger a response so if you live in a closely populated neighbourhood, then you may not be the most popular neighbour.Does it work though?Well I think the strobe lighting is effective at giving whatever invader you have a scare but I can't say the high pitched noises actually deter anything. It may be worth a try but I wouldn't get your hopes up that this is a miracle deterrent for the usual garden invaders.

Keeps the cats away!
A review from the wife... If you're sick of your neighborhood cats using your garden and flower beds as their public toilet, get this now. The high pitched noise it emits certainly seems to keep them away. This also has flashing lights to scare pests away so that may also be helping. I have used other similar products previously but they have always been battery operated which is a pain to have to keep changing batteries as they run flat. I really like the solar charging capability of this product. If you have a run of poor sunshine days, you can also charge with USB. When the product arrives, you have to put it together by sliding the stand together. The bottom part of this is the stake that goes into the ground which is very sharp! I can hear the high pitched noise that the machine makes when I come into its view and it certainly isn't pleasant but I can live with that to have a clean garden. Over the recent very breezy days, I have found that the breeze can also set off the sensor. This isn't ideal if you have the windows open or if you're sitting out in the garden but you could turn it off for a short time if you can't stand the sound. I have tried various methods to keep cats away from the garden and this kind of ultrasonic device is the only thing that has had any level of success so recommended by me! As a positive as well, the garden birds seem largely unaffected by this.

LACKS THE LOUD NOISE; PERHAPS UNRELIABLE IN OUR WINTER
I have never found battery-powered scarers satisfactory; marauding animals and birds will check your premises constantly and it only takes one night with a flat battery, and they will be in like a shot. Solar-powered types are better than those with disposable batteries, and doubtless great in Southern California, India, and elsewhere on the equator, but a bit dodgy in Northern climes like ours, especially in winter. So I have always bought the kind that come with a long extension lead, and run them off a transformer from the house mains. I have even made my own extension leads with low-voltage cable.Deer are my problem, and I employ the type of scarers which make a loud noise, as well as ultrasound and flashing lights. I can do this because I live in the middle of nowhere. However, if you want to avoid an urban ASBO this is a very neat little silent scarer. I like the fact that the solar panels are arranged one horizontal and the other angled slightly for the when the sun is lower. However, my pests enter my garden from a northerly direction, so it wouldn't be much use to me...

Audible beeps but works well.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This package consists of the main alarm unit, a three-section stand and charging lead. It's quite compact and is barely 13cm tall. The unit has solar panels on the top which can be topped up with the USB lead connecting in the back. It's a barrel connector, so you can't lose the lead as it's unlikely you'll have another one. When you first turn it on it detects your presence and activates. The lights flash and you can hear a very high pitched alarm go off. My hearing's not the best at high frequencies (at 55) but I can still hear it.I'm using this purely to deter animals from out horse feed bins in the stable block. I'd rather not deter any of the animals shown on the box (I'd rather like to attract badgers, foxes and squirrels) so it will only be used near the feed bins, indoors. There's still light shining on it, and it appears to be working properly after a week. I'd cleaned up the area and there have been no droppings or sign of rodents, so I can only assume it's working properly.
