Lots of fun!
I bought a set of pentel water brushes when they first came out but could not stand them, controlling the water flow was extremely difficult. Despite handling them gently they always had a steady drip to them.While looking for a new brush I read many reviews (and watched video reviews) and have come to the conclusion that there are two types of watercolor painters, those who like to work with lots of water and those that like a damp brush.If your the latter type these wont give you 100% control but it is much easier to keep an eye on how much water is transferring to the bristles then the pentel brushes. There is a nozzle in the water reservoir that restricts water flow. I checked all my brushes before using them to make sure each of them had the nozzles and then checked each brush for leaks around the threads and where the bristles come out of the 'ferrule'. I found no leaks in my set.With a little practice it is easy to know how much water will come out when you squeeze the barrel. I am really happy with these brushes and am adding them to a travel box I am putting together.I took off one star for the low quality bristles. No mater how gently you handle these brushes they will eventually split and fray. I did a few test paints and despite my gentle usage I can see the bristles on the flat brushes want to pull apart and the very edges have started looking fuzzy. To combat this problem I reshape and leave the brushes wrapped in paper towel. I thought about using a brush conditioner on them, but I don't know if the conditioner would get pulled into the bristles and build up over time.These are a lot of fun to use and have no regrets despite the extra work to keep them in shape.
