Naturally Nora Sunny Yellow Cake Mix, 19.1-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

First, you can't compare this to chemical cake (DH BC Pllsbry) chemical cake gets that lovely texture from propylene glycol- it's also in your hand lotion and cosmetics. I love that this cake has NO chemicals, artificial colors and flavors. It's very light on flavor, so I added a little vanilla extract and it was perfect. Since it's light on flavor, that makes it more versatile and you can add ripe bananas or apples. If you'd rather not play with the batter, I would suggest that you make the frosting the star of the show and no one will notice its not chemical yellow cake. (Also the batter seems to work better as cupcakes than layer cake)You have nothing to worry about unless Jeffrey Steingarten and Ron Ben-Israel are coming over for dessert :)

I agree with other reviewers. This mix is bland and dense. It did not rise wellat all, a real disappointment. try Arrowhead Mills mix, it is just $0,.50 more a box and is organic. It is a much tastier and healthier choice.

I tried to like these but the consistency is too much like cornbread. I understand this is not a chemical loaded DH mix but it could use a better cake unbleached flour to make the texture a bit more airy and moist.

I love Simply Nora! The yellow cake mix is natural, no strange ingredients, and makes a lovely cake. I think it tastes an awful lot like the homemade recipe I use when I'm not short on time. Simply Nora is easy, fast, and makes a great tasting yellow cake. I have used it as a substitute in some of the "cake doctor" type recipes that call for a regular cake mix, and have had success. I'm thrilled to be able to buy this on Amazon!

I love all the choices I have with Naturally Nora's mixes. We eat very low fat or no fat and as you know our choices are limited and taste is secondary. These brands are great and I make them even healthier by using egg beaters and applesauce or vanilla no fat Greek yogurt in place of the oil. The taste is great and very moist. I serve these to my friends and they never know they are eating healthy!

This isn't a horrible cake mix, but it is not sweet enough to even be called a cake. It is bland and dense.On the upside, there aren't any PHOs or artifical ingredients.

This works at high altitude (7000ft) with the normal recipe. If you let it cook to a light golden brown it is best.I make 21 instead of 24 cupcakes and they puff up into little domed cupcakes. I use soybean oil. They are so cute.I think the sweetness is perfect and with the vanilla frosting these taste like gourmet. Thank you, Nora! With 3 eggsthese kind of have that waffle cone taste. This mix is my favorite.

SO yummy and works in many recipes. Glad to find something easy without preservatives!!
