Indispensable
If you’re responsible for a large irrigation system, this is indispensable. The property I maintain has three controllers and 36 zones spread out over 25 acres. This remote saves me hours every week. Due to the distances involved, I elected to buy the ROAM-XL instead of the standard ROAM. The range on this model is excellent and is exactly what I needed.

It works like it is supposed too
I purchase this same one in 2017 and it finally quit working, so I purchase another one from the same company because it worked great. I have 30 zones so it is a must to have and well worth the price.

Expensive, but covers my acre lot even though the sending unit is inside a garage.
Does exactly what our irrigation company's unit does. In fact, this is the same unit they use. After countless trips back and forth between the 19 irrigation zones on our acre lot and the control unit in our garage, I finally decided to make my life easier and spend the money for our own remote controller. Now when I'm checking the status of our sprinkler heads after the landscapers wreak havoc on our property, I can do so effortlessly. Our garage is at one end of the lot. The control unit is on an inside wall of that garage. So, the signal for the majority of our zones is going through our house. I suppose I could have tried to save a few dollars and opted for a lesser version of this remote control, but the reviews for that one mentioned reception issues. Knowing that our irrigation service reps had no issue anywhere on our property with their unit, I opted for the no risk alternative.Very handy device to have, if you don't mind the outlay..

Used for years. Now bought for every farm
I’ve used these Hunter remote irrigation controllers for years recently converting to this XL longer range model. We run horse farms in Florida, Kentucky and Texas. Quick observation -or- spot operation of our arena canons, paddock zones and house grass are critical to smooth operation. This longer range model reaches through a building. The shorter range model is more line of site. I can’t imagine trying to run/inspect our farms without these remotes. I have wi fi/IPhone enabled software too, but they’re not as simple and quick as these hunter dedicated purpose controllers. Small home lot -or- 200 acres, if you do your own wet checks, buy this remote. (Be sure it’s compatible with your clock…I’m using 2 different Hunter clocks that had the “port” already built into the clock, to accept this remote easily.)

Good range
Doesn’t work well behind buildings. Great if site line to control panel

Works great
I am on 4 acres with a large home blocking the signal to my boathouse where the controller is. Works flawlessly!

Huge time saver!
Love this kit - it has saved us countless hours. We use it for our sprinkler system which spans about three residential blocks in all directions. This includes houses which this remote powers through with ease. Before we had this remote we would need to run back and forth to valve boxes or our controller while working on sprinkler heads. Now we just press the go arrow, watch the heads popup, note any issues, press stop, repair, press go and verify alignment. No more running back and forth. The non-XL version of this remote simply didn't have the power to push the signal through four rows of houses, where this one seems to do it with ease.
