Sunbrella Directors Chair Replacement Cover (Round Stick) - Gingko

Finding replacement seats for classic director's chairs is surprisingly VERY hard. I've been looking online and in local stores for two months with no luck. When I saw these, they were the correct specifications, with a wide variety of colors, constructed with a highly reputable outdoor fabric, and were a price-is-right $18 a set (seat and back). I was excited until the shipment was much delayed. When they finally arrived 3 days after they were promised, it got worse and I'm pretty disappointed.The color was great, exactly as advertised. The fabric is Sunbrella, as advertised, but i was shocked at how much lighter-weight it is than the original outdoor canvas set that I'm replacing it with. I'm a bit worried about how long the Sunbrella will hold up once it is subjected to harsh summer weather and heavy use. No warnings on the website that this was lightweight Sunbrella.I was also very troubled by the poor craftsmanship. The thread is too lightweight, and the bobbin was set too loose on machines that constructed these. The hems were left open and fraying, rather than turned and finished. Some stitch lines on the seats were pulled and left in open loops. I expected far better sewing construction since this was an American-made product and not something coming out of a sweat shop in China or Sri Lanka.I've decided to keep these sets rather than return them, mainly because it's just too darned hard to find directors chairs seats in the right specs and colors. What I will be doing though, since I'm a seamstress, is reinforcing all the seams with heavyweight outdoor thread and tighter stitches and putting a finished hem on the underside of the seat pieces. Shoot, I might as well have made these myself for all the trouble I'm going to in order to make things right.Shame on you Custom Canvas Sets (Hedgesville, West Virginia). You've got a market niche without any competition and if you cranked your quality up a notch, you would make loyal customers for life, and maybe grow this into a Made in America company you can be proud of (and get rich with). For now, this product is okay but I don't expect it to last more than a year or two. The set I'm replacing lasted 8 years! Drop your expectations.
