For $20, this is a surprisingly nice little pack. However, it can be made a lot more user-friendly by simply trimming off some of the relatively useless straps. First, this pack doesn't really need compression straps unless you intend to use it for running. It's not big enough to hold enough gear that it would shift around during use, and getting rid of these straps makes it easier to access the compartments, especially the two small ones on either side of the elastic loop area. Just trim the four compression strap lengths as close as possible to where they attach to the bag. Next, unlace the elastic cord from its eyelets and trim off the center bottom strap and loop it went through. This little strap actually prevents the elastic cord from holding a rolled jacket or other article, as it limits the size item you can hold under the cord. Finally, the water bottle pockets have cinch cords with straps much longer than necessary for the size bottle the pockets will accommodate. Put your intended bottles in the pockets, cinch 'em up, and trim the excess strap to about 1" past the buckle. I guarantee if you do these mods you'll find this pack much cleaner in appearance and much less confusing to use. All these straps probably do serve to make the pack look more "pro" and expensive, but they ultimately interfere with its use. The included shoulder straps are very functional and well-made. Using the backpack-style straps gives you a really functional way of carrying enough water and gear for a day hike without needing a backpack, and without the sagging and flopping often associated with lumbar (fanny) packs. Glad I bought this.

Edit - I've had this for 11 months now and use it all the time for Mountain Biking and I still like it very much and would recommend it. It's easier to get water bottles back in the holsters now, not sure if that's because they stretched or I got better at it. Upped my score from 4 stars to 5 stars, I love the lightweight shoulder straps.This is the review you're looking for if you're a mountain biker. I've only ridden with it once and I'll try to update after I've had it a while, but so far I'm a fan. Climbing with the shoulder straps on it disappears, I didn't think about it on my way up the hill at all other than "it's kind of fiddly to get these water bottles back in their holsters". I may try and make a shoehorn-like thing out of a 2 liter soda bottle or something to help guide them into place, but it held the water bottles much more securely than I expected when I first got the thing. You can see in the photo it holds almost all of a normal sized water bottle. Tall ones would stick out more and might become unbalanced but I haven't tried.The thing's got plenty of room for stuff in it, and a bunch of pockets. I've got my multitool, garage door opener (ride from my house sometimes), tube, pump, shock pump, chain link, tire levers, and there's definitely room for multiple clif bars and a normal sized rain jacket in there. Plenty of straps on the outside that I might just cut off in case you want to strap more stuff to it, but for me it's got plenty of room inside for everything I'd want on a medium ride.I had a cheap fanny pack before this one just to test the concept and it really pulled on my stomach if you put any water bottles in it. This one with the tiny shoulder strap takes the pressure off my waist and is more comfortable, and I'm able to load it down with twice as many bottles as I could with the old one and still be comfortable. I haven't tried it without the shoulder straps yet, so I can't speak to whether the straps come loose while riding or how comfortable it is that way.Descending a couple times it tried to turn around and get in front of me, but only on really rough, really steep stuff. Probably I just need to tighten the belt, I had it pretty loose since the shoulder straps were doing a lot of the work. I might try and sew some silicone grip tape fabric on the belt or something to keep it more planted.For $20, I'm beyond stoked. The thing looks the business, holds 2 bottles comfortably, and I have more than enough room for the stuff I'd want with me on any ride short enough that I don't need the full 3 liter backpack. I might get a 2L or 1.5L bladder and chuck it in there and see if I can't rig up a hose-belt situation like Camelbak or Evoc has. But for what I need it to do, this thing's great and I'd recommend it.

So me and my girlfriend were on hike and she accidentally shoved me into the creek. Accidentally..Hmm...So she says.Anyway I put my wallet, car keys, my phone and some other stuff in the pack and sure enough. Everything inside the pack was dry, unlike me. I was soaked. I highly suggest getting one if you go on hikes near water or if your girlfriend likes to Accidentally shove it in the water.

it's just a right size for me for bass fishing from bank for a day, of course I bringother big tackle bag in my car but not need to carry all of them for going.This isn't water proof that's missing 1 star but I applied nikwax so it is nearly water proof.I have 4 plano boxes, 3 of them are double sided box so I still have plenty empty spacein my two small double sided boxes.I put another one box which is for spinner bait on top. I also hang a plier hanging on it (not in pictures)Put a drink on holder, (Gaterade 20oz bottle just fit) and just grab this bag and rod with reel, I'm ready for fishing.

I REALLY wanted to give this item more than 3 stars. I bought it for a medical trip to Panama and it performed wonderfully. The internal pockets worked great to keep my passport protected and essential medical supplies organized and east to get to. The external pouches were perfect for carrying a couple small bottles of deet and sunscreen as well as a head light. The two water bottle pouches kept my LifeStraw secure and housed a rolled-up poncho for quick access when it started raining. The included packpack-style straps made it feel like my old LCE and butt pack from when I was in the Army. It was comfortable, versatile, and was envied by my fellow travelers.However, what is up with the cheap crappy buckles? Thankfully none of mine broke, but the other reviews stating how flimsy they are were 100% on point. I felt like I had to be EXTREMELY careful to avoid breaking them. They should at least use good buckles for the main waist straps!That being said, I plan on replacing the buckles and using this pack for a long time to come.

Pack is nice quality though despite its fairly large overall size there's not a ton of space in the main compartment, it's really a "halfway solution" between a traditional small fanny pack and a full on backpack, so if you have all 3 you're in good shape. The little pockets on the waistband are unfortunately kind of useless except for maybe housekeys, forget a cellphone or whatever, way too small. I quickly learned that the backpack harness that comes with it is not only a good idea but necessary...when the pack is loaded up with a few bike tools, water bottle or other heavier items, the pack flops up and down quite noticeably, annoyingly unwearable in that state: the backpack straps pretty much tame that but at that point I'd prefer a backpack anyway. Undecided on returning it.

Although I agree that there unnecessary straps I got used to it very quick. The main pouch is larger than I thought and also there is an extra pouch on the back and underside straps.Only thing is the side hip pockets are too small to be useful. Not even large enough for a tiny headlamp.I like that it comes with the straps and I actually use it hanging from shoulder more than around hips.Very well made and I'm think of buying another as a gift.

I absolutely love this pack!. Many pockets and built strong. If you are looking for something light and able to carry many things i highly recommend it. Much cooler for hot days than a full backpack.

Love be this bag. It fits everything I need for a day hike and is very comfortable wear. The straps are easily adjustable and the main pocket is deep enough to hold a cook set.Very happy with it.
