On the DVR side of the CAT5 cable you need this unit. The cameras' coaxial cables are most likely terminated with the same BNC connectors as this balun, if so, you would need the other balun model that has the same type of BNC connectors as the DVR in order to connect your cameras to the balun.

Hi, each unit gives you connection for 4 cameras with a DVR. For bether results, you most to use stp cable cat 5 if you want reduce interference. Or, use utp cable with ground reference.

Q: I have stp cat 5e installed, will this balun work on stp cat 5e cable?

Dear Intrepid Shopper , this video transmitter is designed with utp cat cable, utp cable with Unshielded Twisted Paired layer, that will minimize signal transmission interference and achieve target distance transmission(as our described parameters). But if you want to use stp cat 5e cable for this product, you need to connect your cable Unshielded Twisted Paired layer to Ground to reduce interferences, also can not get our target transmit distance. Many thanks.

Q: Does this device allow you to assign an IP address to an analog camera? Or is this just for using cat5 to carry an analog signal?

Cat 5 has 4 pairs. The device uses each pair to carry the video signal over whatever length u run to either an identical four channel Balun or to 4 separate single channel Baluns.. this has nothing to do with networking. The fact that you’re even asking this question makes me want to advise you to maybe hire a professional so you don’t waste any time or money... please don’t take that the wrong way.
